The upper class pulled the carrot away a long time ago. If your a part of the machine, like you and I probably are, then the carrot is close enough and big enough to keep us reasonably satisfied, but as a kid, looking at a world with huge unemployment, declining wages and benefits and an upper class that is deeply rooted in keeping things that way, its very easy to see why they would loose hope, give up and resort to violence. Especially if they don't happen to be in the top of their class... the type of people with the chance to not only get on the treadmill but actually work their way away from the edge of it.
If all you can hope for (or all you believe you can hope for) is a life where you are constant fear of loosing your job and ending up down in the shrinking safety net of society it must become a lot easier to be disillusioned.
The stick only solves the problem in the short run at best.
As long as I'm on the topic, does anyone have a way of filtering out images, or making them smaller, or just eliminating image posts from phones. I have a few friends I actually do read but from time to time they just flood my stream with a bunch of images. It would be nice if Google+ could consolidate images that come in from a given user over a certain period of time into a single post with thumbnails.
I doubt that a Preacher movie could be made in a way that would be any good. An HBO series maybe... maybe... but even then it would could be a hard sell.
I would love to see it, but I wouldn't ever expect it.
Well then, maybe it was Google getting their shit together all on their own.
What I cant understand is why apple had a buggy version in their hands to being with, I would expect google to not release the app to apple until they had thoroughly tested it (not that it would be bug free, but at least not a mess).
It is possible, however, that google was actively working with apple on this, providing pre-release versions for feedback to help the approval process along and avoid any issues. Of course if we assume that it blows away the whole conspiracy against google theory so thats no fun.
You really believe that not being able to change the background initially was because of control and not simply because they had limited developer time and decided that time would be better spent on a different feature or on fixing bugs?
How do you know they were dragging their feet on this? I bet that the google + app is more than twice as complicated as the average app on the iPhone, especially when you consider all the total bullshit fart apps that probably take minutes to approve or deny. Whats more it makes extensive use of a lot of features, it communicates externally, it uses the camera for stills and video and probably also the GPS system. These are sensitive areas and even a cursory check to make sure the app is doing what it claims to do is going to take time. There is a lot of ground to cover there that is unnecessary in some other apps. I'm sure apple has some automated tools that tell the people doing the approval what APIs are being used and ones that are not using many important APIs probably get approved a lot faster.
Basically, you have no idea if this is reasonable or not, you have simply decided that it was unreasonable so you can complain about it.
Well, it doesn't say if the button was still working but holding it down puts the phone into voice control mode which would allow you to make a call. The owner used the bluetooth in his truck to access it though, so maybe the button wasn't working (but the bluetooth was).
Why would asphalt shingles last longer in Europe than they do in America, or are you just talking about a different kind of roof than what this thread was talking about.
The one good thing the home in 117F has is an abundance of potential energy from solar.
Not really. I mean, it does in the summer when it is actually sunny, but the vast majority of the year in Minnesota it is very cold, cloudy and dark far more of the day than it is light.
Actually, HTML only apps were never the long term plan and that was pretty clear right from the start. Maybe you are thinking of something else.
It is true, however, that when the iPhone first came out, HTML apps were the only ones you could develop, but that is mostly because the SDK was not yet finished.
Really? Even including the time you spend asleep?
Your either sleeping too little or working too much :-)
Felt it here, third floor of a building. Nothing more here than a gentle sway back and forth 3-4 times.
felt it all the way up here in Boston.
pretty gentle here though

Thank you, that will come in handy.

Plus, Sushi Cat is awesome.
Or:
"Please, ignore this van; we are not spies."
Hell, its already reaching the point where I want less activity on G+ and I am looking at reducing the number of people I read regularly.

I don't think that is what he means by "pirated software."
It's text, its size should be measured in points!
The text is written in 2,834,645 point font.

So perhaps part of this delay was Apple telling Google to get their shit together and publish a decent app before they would approve it.

yea, its really more like the millennium bridge. The Tacoma Narrows bridge problem was caused by the cross wind if I recall correctly.
It gets the customer out of the store faster and keeps them happy, plus they take his phone, refurb it and give it to the next guy with a problem.
Makes sense to me.
I might replace the screen, but I would probably keep a phone that survived a fall like that.

Also, waste heat from your house goes right into melting the snow.
