    Only until the day comes that Apple Mac sales meet at least half or more of the total Windows PC sales (of all brands selling PCs loaded with Windows), will that constitute any kind of sales record that matters worth beans.

    i would say that text messages often show that people have better understanding of the language then first impressions can lead to.
    Just like being able to use a calculator often shows that people have a better understanding of the underlying mathematical principles, right?

    Not as cheap as a DVR, but no subscription. Of course, this misses one huge hidden cost .... electricity.

    Most embedded boxes (Cable set-top DVRs, Tivo, etc) are built using specialized components and consume much less power than a home-built MythTV unit.

    I've done a few tests with various units (Comcast DVR, Tivo, Myth box) and found there is about a 150W difference between home-brew and embedded. .150kW * 24 hr * 365 days * $.15 kWh / 12 mo = $16.425 / mo

    So the electricity for that that "free" MythTV box actually costs $16.43 more per month than a embedded device.

    Yes, you can do a lot more with a MythTV box, but don't try and kid yourself that it doesn't cost as much as other solutions.

    Just like when I use a telephone, I hit the buttons next to the number I am looking to dial and when I park my car, I park next to the spot I want.

    Since that I have revised the answer to add ultrasound technician, seeing the process on my second child with the new 3D ultrasound equipment and realizing exactly how surprised my reaction was I know that would be a cool line of work. I couldn't do it as for every 99 perfectly healthy babies, there is going to be that one that has problems and you have to be the one to tell the parent(s).

    I prefer to live in a house that is built upon a mined product, held together with a mined product, with interior walls thanks to a mined product, using electricity carried by a mined product, drink fresh water via a mined product, transport sewage away in a mined product, drive a car that has a frame from a mined product, on roads composed entirely of mined product.

    WHAT? CAN YOU SPEAK UP? I CAN'T HEAR YOU OVER ALL THE HUMMING!!

    I recently tried CF bulbs and went out of my way to buy what are considered the best for lighting delay and "dimmability".

    In short, they SUCK.

    First, they hum when dimmed (and these are supposedly designed for such).
    Second, they take a second to turn on.
    Third, they take about 30 seconds to "warm up" to the selected brightness.

    Fix those issues and you'll get me to convert, but not before.

    The rest are those that claim that a $100 HDMI cable produces richer colors and fuller sound than a $6 HDMI cable.
