  1. N64 FTW on Whatever Happened To The Joystick? · · Score: 1

"these have been integral to joypads since the original PlayStation" What about the N64? How can you attribute thumb sticks to the PS1 when they started out with only a D-pad and then added thumb sticks to compete with the N64?

  2. Polaroid? Polarized? on First Reflected Light From an Exoplanet Seen · · Score: 0, Redundant

    # lsusb # mkdir / # mount /dev/usb / if it truly does have mass removable storege capabilities, this will work. use lsusb to find the devid of the device, the create a directory to mount it to and then mount the appropriate /dev/usb device. it may take a few tries to get the correct usb device, but this is how i got my Motorola i880 to show as a 1G removable drive.

  8. Re:An important debating point on Top 25 Censored Stories of 2007 · · Score: 1

It's a little of both, depending on the story. The TV watching public does not care about net neutrality, internet users do; so it gets coverage all over the internet, but not on TV. Halliburton selling secrets to Iran is going to be more in the range of censorship, but overall i would not call most of these stories censored. If they truly were censored, they would not be posted here, or anywhere else. What i would call this article is pointless, as the people reading it already know about much of these stories. So if this censorship report doesn't make it into the news, is it censored?

  11. updates GOOD, or security BAD on Gentoo On Server Considered Harmful · · Score: 1

Whoever wrote this has obviously never set up automated updates for any number of computers. one basic option of almost all update programs is to not upgrade where the configuration file has been updated. And not updating just because everything appears to be running fine is a security nightmare, as most updates, especially for server-side programs is exploit/security updates, not "new features" Besides all that, its not too hard to do a diff between your .conf backup and the new .conf. (if you aren't backing this stuff up, and you're complaining about updates, not only should you quit your job, you should never boot to anything but windows)

  19. Partitioning on Ideal Linux System for Newbies? · · Score: 1

Personally, i would use fedora, or maybe ubuntu. But one important thing is going to be partitioning your drive. If you only have one hard drive, it may be a good idea to have a small system partition for windows and a small partition for linux, then a swap partition, and finally, a great big fat32 partition. "FAT32 you say?" yes. Both systems can read this partition out of the box, making for a good grey area to store data to be used by both OS's. Also, install windows first. Configuring a dual boot after windows screws everything can be a pain.

A bunch of fluff to make people paranoid. I work for one of these trackers. You want to know if you're being tracked? Check you damn bill or call your damn cell carrier. If it's your phone, it can't be tracked without your consent, so if you find/think you are being tracked, you're probably also the one paying for it, and therefore it's pretty easy to find out if they've done this without resorting to seeing if your phone is warm.
