A couple of questions
1. How do I know if its worth the money? Where can I listen to a decent collection of music for free to find out if I want to buy it, without possibly running up against this monitoring?
2. What happens when the monitoring system reports that I downloaded copyrighted material that I never heard of?
According to the American Federation of Teachers, the average salary for a teacher in 2006-2007 was $51,009. That is for a nine month job. That means that when pro-rated, the average teacher salary for a year would be about $68,000. According to Wikipedia, the median personal income for people with a Bachelor's Degree or higher and employed full time in 2005 was $56,078. That to me indicates that teacher's salaries are about right.
They're both small, roundish, solid, organic , and naturally occurring on earth in wide variety of {color, shape, location}, etc... Apples and rocks are more similar than dissimilar.
Actually, I saw a study recently that indicated that pot smoking does not significantly increase the risks associated with driving. I wish I had known this topic was going to come up, I would have read more than the summary and maybe even kept the link. I must say that the summary of the study does not agree with my personal experience from years past.
So you are saying that adult stem cells are not as useful to treat health problems as embryonic stem cells? If that is the case, why are there treatments already in use that use adult stem cells, but this is the first clinical trial using embryonic stem cells?
; to pick up where Bush left (as he was the first president to not try and be re-elected) and divert the general public attention (hope, change, etc).
You know it would really help your opinion to be taken seriously if you had a clue. President G.W. Bush was re-elected. After he served his second term in office, he was ineligible to be elected to a third term (just like everybody else to server two terms since FDR).
I don't go to church, but I pay so others can go even though I think it is a hateful waste of time.
I am a product of my society, and have no problem giving back some of my wealth to help my less fortunate fellow citizens.
I do not agree with most 'welfare' programs that hand out money, but health care is worth the cost.
That's great there are lots of private organizations that provide health care for the poor and disadvantaged. Which one are you giving your money to?
I always like to hear about organizations that are helping people.
Good to see that you have a president who seems to act on the basis of reality rather than listening to the mumbo jumbo of the religious fantasists. It would be nice if we had something like that in the UK.
You do realize that Obama had zero to do with this story, don't you?
This study is getting approved now because now is when the people doing the study finished all of the necessary preliminary work to get approval. If they had finished the preliminary work six months sooner, it would have been approved six months sooner.
Of course you have to weigh that against the reports that all of the reporters that get to ask him questions at press conferences are pre-selected. There was also a report about limiting photographers and video cameras, but for the time being I am willing to grant the basis for the photography limitations as a special case considering the circumstances.
I think the promise of transparency is one that needs to be watched very closely.
I am not sure what your basis for saying that this election had "seen a level of participation from a large cross-section of our nation" as a reason to declare the magnitude of of Barack Obama becoming President. All of the reports I have seen of actual numbers say that turnout for this last election looks pretty much like turnout for every Presidential election in the U.S.
You say that philosophers start with axioms and scientists start with observation. So, I guess that means that you don't think it is important to scientists that "if a+b=c and d+e=c, then a+b=d+e". That is an axiom. It is one of the basic axioms of math. Without it, science is very hard to do.
That means that obviously he must be excluded if you want to have diversity.
Everyone knows that the only way to have diversity is to exclude members of LDS or other organizations that believe something contrary to the accepted standard.
I don't know. These days you can get a DUI for driving a lawn mower, bicycle, horse or wheel chair and even for not driving your car by sleeping in it while drunk. How long can it be before the MADD morons get sneakers included.
The logic for DUI when sleeping in our car is: "how did your car get to where it is parked when the officer finds you sleeping in it?" If you are in the parking lot of the bar where you got drunk, I am pretty sure they would have trouble convicting you of DUI. If you can provide good evidence that you met your friends where your car is parked and they drove you to the bar to get drunk and then drove you back, I think there is a good chance that you could get off. Otherwise, it is a valid assumption that you were driving drunk at some point.
Personally, I think that if the person is sleeping in their car within a short distance of the bar they got drunk at, the cops should ignore the DUI (we can debate what represents a short distance).
What makes the price of gold a "real term"? The price of gold is as much based on people's perception as anything else. The only way to generate a "real terms" value is to compare to the cost of food, but then we have to decide on what food stuffs to use for the comparison.
And how do you "set this up at home" to negotiate with my refrigerator? You don't know who I am, or where I live. The idea they are presenting here is that your refrigerator talks to all the refrigerators in your town and they spread the times when they run their motors out over the course of the day.
Does nobody here see the privacy concerns with this idea?
If you ever get married, ask your wife if you can say "I didn't have sex" if all you got from some other woman was a BJ.
for in part sof the world where their power runs unchecked, corruption and classism, intolerance and tribalism take hold
You mean like at American Universities?

Lets compare apples to rocks why don't we.
They're both small, roundish, solid, organic , and naturally occurring on earth in wide variety of {color, shape, location}, etc... Apples and rocks are more similar than dissimilar.
Rocks are generally not organic.
If you made up a name, how do you remember it 3 years later?

So, are you saying that rats intentionally spread the black plague by "fleaing predators", i.e. spreading fleas to predators/humans?
Right, it couldn't have anything to do with Eric Holder's involvement with the Marc Rich pardon.

The reason it is only now getting "the approval it deserves" is because this is the first study of embryonic stem cell that has shown any promise.

No, no, no, it is Bed Bath and Biatch.

The IBM PC XT came with a hard drive starting in 1983.
