Not quite. Linus is ok with it, that should be the zealot seal of approval.

ACPI is becoming far more important these days and this is more about standards not taking something AWAY from linux.

Yup, I have to agree. On SUN hardware, it's ROCK solid. We had a cpu burn up and it didn't bring down the box (14 proc). A quick swap and you're back at full capacity :)

Nice move on sun's part, although.. the nice thing about sun is the hardware as well as the software. A cheap x86 box isn't exactly a reliable platform for any OS.

    umm, guido ...

Setting it to 0, as Linux does, is one possibility; as discussed below, in a NAT situation this can leak information, and hence is probably undesirable.

Hate to say it, but with Bush slashing the NASA budget and funelling so much $ into war and weapons I dont think its likely that there will be a new shuttle.

Don't know, I have a feeling NASA's time has come and gone. Their budget is continually being slashed and burned in favour of military spending. They also are pouring so much money into the ISS and shuttle missions. It all gives me a feeling that the ESA's time has come. Not that it really matters, whoever manages it, it will still be damn cool.
