    So linux crashes because of hardware failure and XP because of bad design ?

    My linksys running linux is continually flakey.

    Try logging in. It's not too hard.
    Did you look through the tightvnc source and find the problem ?

    If not in tightvnc it should at least pinpoint where windows messes up.

    Let me know, I'd be interested to know what you find.

    Guess other people aren't so lucky.

    Sorry, but linux isn't the shining beacon of stability you make it out to be. I can't recall the last time my xp blue screened except for runnin a non certified video driver.

    ok, so linux dosn't crash.
    Those kernel panics must have been me imagining things. My windows xp box has been up and heavily used for 4 weeks.

    I take it you base this off your own anecdotal evidence.

    Don't think so

    So, they have X. Its just a seperate app.
    It can run X apps and native. It's not used for anything OSX.

    "X11 for Mac OS X takes advantage of the Mac OS X Quartz graphics system to deliver hardware-accelerated 2D and 3D graphics." They did it well, go figure.

    Given that you seem link happy, care to point me to any links for something like this under linux ?

    Yup, I can't stand the ameriican version. It's more like watching wrestling.
    Look at the "ROBOT WARS: EXTREME WARRIORS" and robot wars shows. Big breasted women on tv talking about robots don't quite do it for me. The real thing is much nicer.

    Not only s alpha blending one of many advantages, it's also MUCH faster.

    It dosn't mean having quake 3 on your desktop.

    EXACTLY
    So many weenies never bother reading.
    Linux just now has OpenGL rendering hacks being developed to do this.

    Use OSX, see how the windows don't tear and feel faster ? If you have a geforce 4 .. It's a pretty smart idea to offload the window functions onto it.

    It's a server... plus has the ports.
