    The excuse:

"George would love to do something special with the DVD release, but he won't do it until he has time to concentrate on it," said Lynne Hale, a spokeswoman for Lucasfilms Ltd. "Right now he's writing the script for 'Episode II,' then we go right into principal photography this summer in Australia. And after that, he'll be working on 'Episode III,' so it could be some time before he's able to devote the time needed to work on the DVD," Hale said.

Bull-crap! Too much time to work on the DVD my ass. Does EVERYTHING have to be a gigantical special effect for this man!? I mean, sure, DVD stuff is really nifty, but it does NOT have to be produced with hard work by Lucas! Someone else can handle it. We just wanna see the frikkin movie on DVD for !@#$^& sake!

  15. You can't fix the cheating problems. Here's why. on ESR on Quake 1 Open Source Troubles · · Score: 1

You just can't. Even if your server has a detailed client checker that checks the Quake I executable from top to bottom with checksums or whatever. Why?

First of all this removes performance (Hello, ESR? We NEED this with 28.8 and 56k modems man!).

Second and foremost, nobody would be able to play with a client that has been modified for the purposes of making the game easyer or cooler for the player (and not to cheat.

Next is the fact that even if there is a server that checks the checksums of the Quake client, hello?! A good programmer would still just minimize their "fake" Quake client they used for recognition and load their real client which will let them cheat on top of the existin fake client.

    GRR! ;o)

The only thing that I'm looking forward to purchasing soon is one of those very cool Microsoft IntelliMouse Explorers. Now THAT is (ergonomic?) hardware I can really get into.

  19. Very easy if you ask me... on Configuring Monitors in X · · Score: 1

This is quite easy actually. I've had the same problems in the past and it's not a science to get a monitor to display what you want it to in Linux.

First of all, the xf86config tool for X is quite weak. However, it must be used first and foremost. That tool will get everything setup and ready for...

XF86Setup. Yes, you heard right. It's time to whip out the good old XF86Setup tool. Sadly, red hat systems don't really come with this tool, although I believe you can still install it. All you have to do is go through each setup screen and chose the best options. The last two setup screens here are key. On the first before last you get to chose your monitor modes. What I do is that I go above what my monitor can actually handle (I think). So I select something like 1280x1024 pixels at 60Hz refresh, which my monitor can't do. On the last tab, I select the 1024x768 display at 32-bit color.

This works perfectly fine and it's how I've always forced X to display what it actually can under my monitor(s). If you have problems with the way it's positioned, etc, run xvidtune either when it prompts you to, or at a later time.

    Good luck!
