but some drugs, anti-depressants especially shouldnt be advertised ever, everyone feels a little depressed once in a while, and instead of treating the symptom they should treat the cause. your life sucks, change it, dont pop a pill. ssri's and especially maoi's are hard drugs, and the vast number of people taking them dont need them, the same thing with anti-anxiety, should so many people have such horrible anxiety that they cant go about day to day activities without being doped up? i mean life suddenly didnt become more stressful now that these drugs are available, if anything life is for the most part stress-free, and if people survived for 40 thousand years without these drugs, then we dont need em period.

ritalin is prescribed to children for christs sake, because their parents are too lazy to give them adequate attention, they are diagnosed with attention deficit disorder, sometimes adderall, and desoxyn are even prescribed, which are amphetamine, and meth-amphetamine respectively. ritalin is also a cns stimulant, very similar pharmacologically to amphetamines. is this what we want in our children?

then theres the weight loss supplements that masquerade as prescription drugs, with some silly name that to an ignoramus, might appear to be proprietary trademark for a chemical compound.

then they make ridiculous claims on the cause of obesity, such as body fat can increase from having children, getting older, stress at work, lack of exercise. with an animated image of a person getting fat. and since the vast majority of the population are so stupid and lazy that they say, yea your right its not my fault im fat, im just fat because im old and stressed out, and i had too many damn kids. ill gladly spend 100 dollars on a 30 day supply of caffiene and aspirin, i especially trust this product, because its now available without a prescription. which implies it was once only available by a prescription, which it wasnt.

now this product might be infinitely safer than most prescription drugs, but its still misleading, and since its not actually a drug, its considered a supplement they can make claims as outrageous as they want as long as they mention that these statements have not been evaluated by the fda. and also god only knows whats in it, that 250mg of proprietary blend might just be lettuce for all we know.

seriously there is a much more serious problem here, in the past people would drink and smoke pot among other things if they felt they needed a break, now they take hard hard drugs daily. this is a relatively recent change too, the last 50 years, since doctors started prescribing amphetamines to house wives, that was the beginning.

the point hes trying to make is that they never wouldve bought it. when people only make 2000 us dollars a year they cant afford to spend 50 dollars on a game. so its not like they wouldve payed for the software had it not been cracked, so sony didnt lose anything, infact they sold some extra hardware that otherwise wouldnt have been sold. and probably a few extra games too, when they got old and cheap, possibly who knows.

i know lots of art students that had pirated copies of photoshop, does that mean that adobe lost money? no, these people could never afford to pay 600 dollars for the program. adobe lost nothing, now that they are succesfull graphic artists, what program do they use and pay for, adobe photoshop.

well the problem is, at least in the us that the majority of legislation doesnt represent the people it represents corporatations and private interest groups. compare this public healthcare vs corporate welfare. i have no firm numbers but i suspect that the majority would support the former.

like corporations passing the taxes down onto the shareholders, since they have to pay tax on any capital gains, why should the corporate entity pay taxes as well. thats double taxation, yes, so there is a system that allows them to be exempt. i think the law that shouldve been passed is that shareholders shouldnt have to pay taxes on capital gains from investments. that wouldve directly helped the people as opposed to the corporation. while either way the shareholders are benefiting, they would benefit more had they simply not had to claim capital gains on investments. corporations can amorticize all losses while the average joe does not. the average joe buys a brand new car, and it loses half its value the first year, a corporation can deduct that networth loss. etc etc etc.

well actually the e4300 has a 9x multiplier, so you would only need ddr2 800, or pc6400 ram to run it at 3600 mhz. which currently runs about 20-30 dollars more than pc5300 for 2 gigs, which is the minimum required for an e6600 for example which itself costs roughly 150 dollars more than the e4300, and only operates at 2.4ghz.

now say you bought the cheapest lga775 mobo you could find that supported ddr2 memory and a 266mhz fsb. maybe 50 bucks for a pos with integrated video and no expandability. fine. but for 90 dollars you can get a decently overclockable board, that will exceed the overclocking ability of your chip, and you can run any conroe at up to 3ghz on the stock cooler. so ill be conservative and say for less than 100 dollars more, you can get performance that exceeds that of the 6800 extreme edition.

    so to reiterate

    cheap pos mobo $50
    e6600 $315
    2gb pc 5300 $175
all else equal running at 2.4ghz no expandability for video and whatnot 540 dollars

    asus p5b $130
    e4300 $190
    2gb pc 6400 $220
    tuniq tower heatsink $60
all else being equal, with a pci-e 16 graphics slot. running at 3.6ghz at lower temps than a stock e6600, idle and loaded. for only 600, or 60 dollars more.

now you tell me what is the better value?
