It's no fun having to watch the paramedics try to save their life when you can see in their eyes they're dead. It's no fun to see the faces of the children who just came to see mummy get strapped to some man and go tandem when they realise that shit on their shoes used to be a living person.

Hi there... Part of your comment is a bit misleading... you say:

"You pay Apple a small fee and get access to piles and piles of sample code, great documentation, a mature API"

Well, yeah, I guess you could go that route.

OR - you could sign up for the FREE account, get the SDK, get all that great documentation, get the mature API and get a fantastic emulator to test in.

When, and ONLY when you're ready to test on physical hardware, you can pay Apple just under $100 and get the ability to deploy to hardware and release to the store. But for all your getting started steps, you don't have to spend 1c more than it costs to start with Android.

Technically, carrying a leatherman is illegal in the UK unless you can show good cause. But that's not the worst of it - good cause only covers you during the time the cause applies.

Say I'm carrying a supertool for work - that would get me off the hook if I get searched moving between buildings (we have 3 main sites all over town). But if I still have it in my bag at 8pm while shopping on Oxford street, I no longer have good cause - I should either leave it at work (unsafe and unlikely to still be there the next day), or go home and drop it off - so travel 1 hour home and 1 hour back to the building next to my office.

    It's a fucking joke.
