Same boat, I actually enjoyed giving blood, didn't hurt and I was like this is something I could do regularly and it's going to help someone. That letter was real fun to get "Thanks for the donating at such and such jail (I donated at a University), you have tested positive for Hepatitis C and can no longer donate blood. That is a terrible feeling to have! Called the lab up got a person who really couldn't give a rat's butt to tell me "oh it's just a false positive, we tested again to be sure", you're blacklisted from ever donating again as we place you on our super secret secure list and we'll send you proof (never received it), have a nice day! "
I have a lawyer friend and since the judges here are mostly running for reelection or are attornies running to be a judge, he usually knows which one is fair or not. it's a hard thing to see a drug addict get a prison sentence instead of some help.
The only problem with that is that on the Internet side, the ISPs are trying to make customers pay if they are "power users". It's not much of a problem right now, but when more and more people start streaming video, sooner or later more people will fall into this category, which ends up in overrage like fees.
Long time player as well. To me without a thriving community no matter what new shinies that get thrown about, you'll eventually hit level cap and be bored. What made WOW fun was interacting with different people not just the guys that stay up for days to get to level cap, but also people like the single mother that works as a bartender, the retired vietnam vet, the guy that's just starting his career in IT, or people that are just graduating from high school trying to figure out what they were going to do in life. The beginning of Cataclysm ran off a lot of people; because, although they were fun to be around, some of the mechanics were brutal which led to people getting left out of dungeon/raid runs.
It would be nice if there was something to do at the "end" of the expansions. The last time I logged on a couple of weeks ago, it was mostly people leveling alts and running content from the expansion before. There's nothing else really to do. Doing the same dailies that you did months ago is not fun and doing Looking for Raid is kind of boring as there's little effort that you need to put into it.
Linux already has that capability and has had it for years in the form of Selinux. The firewall that comes with Windows can already do that without the help of ZoneAlarm.
We are about to vote on implementing red light cameras in Houston, Texas in the upcoming election. There is a radio ad with a police chief and a pastor telling everyone to vote for it in order to save lives lost by red light runners. Sad thing is when the police officer was explaining his stance on this issue one of his points was if we had a one hundred cameras in the area that could cut town on child sex abuse, why wouldn't we want them. This is despite other callers calling in saying they were getting ticketed for making a legal turn at a red light or from personal experience having my stepfather receive a ticket from an area 300 miles away because they said they had irrefutable proof it was him. In the end it wasn't even the same car he drives.
I don't think it was the distribution itself that was causing the problem. What you described sounds similar to what I and others experienced with the latest ubuntu release.

What was found is that it was a problem with the vga arbitter
I've played a couple of games that utilized Gameguard. My favorite thing it did was disabling my keyboard because it was a usb. There's a huge community dedicated to bypassing it so that exploits can be run in the games it's supposed to detect.
Before the FISA vote, i emailed both of my senators. I received a response from both of them months after the fact in which they were both using the same form letter and to thank me for my support.
The only problem is that even if Gonzales, et al. were prosecuted for any wrong doings, that's nothing a presidential pardon wouldn't be able to take care of, which still gets them off scot free.
Nothing like having your digital phone, internet, cable going dead all just about every month for hours on end. If you go to http://help.rr.com/ it's almost certain there's some kind of network problem happening at the moment or during the past couple of days. I remember when I first got Internet service from them. I felt kind of bad though, because right after the broadband was installed an entire street lost their cable connections.
I remember stumbling upon the Transgaming site and thought this sounds like a cool product! So, I paid the "donation" fee to play an old mmorpg on. The only problem is that cedega would run the game almost perfectly except when it came to letting the game update itself. The solution was to load up wine to let the game update itself (which alot of games use the same process) then load cedega back up. Since, they said that used code and supported the wine project, I figured it would be only a matter of time before that particular feature made it into the cedega code. A year later it still wasn't there, but the game plays nicely in WINE by itself now. I saw no point in supporting this company any further. Not to mention all those people that got banned for playing WOW in cedega that time.
Funny thing is a group of us were having a similar discussion about the gold trading in another smaller online game. MTV did a special on the RMT.

Exactly! Every time I hear stories about space debris, I remember that anime. The guys behind it really did their homework on that one right down to the wearing of diapers for long space walks. Its a more realistic view of future space travel from our current standpoint. Below is a description of the series.

The Daily Show summed it up well of our quest of being less dependent on oil. http://www.thedailyshow.com/watch/wed-june-16-2010/an-energy-independent-future

I love how there are goggle ads for ice makers around the article.
