Your analogy is HORRIBLY flawed. First of all there were a multitude of reasons why the original Xbox was retired early, and the hacking potential was WAY down the list.
#1 reason why XBOX was retired semi-early is to beat Sony to the market in next-gen.
#2 the 360 was ALOT easier to hack then the original xbox, jsut flash the DVD drive firmware using a standard sata equipped PC.
When I bought my PS3, I was inpressed by its fit and finish, its overall completeness as a package, and its ability to use my old PS2 force feedback steering wheel in new games.Oh btw, and Killzone 2 IS a Halo killer in EVERY sense of the word.
MS relented a bit and now allows limited 3rd party Wifi dongles, but the MS branded one is still mind-bogglingly $99. THat price point REALLY makes me want to choke a market product placement exec.
IM sorry, but but RROD is NOT an obsolete argument considering the VAST majority of the install base has a machine with this design flaw. You cant just sweep it under the rug and say "MS fixed it"
And yes the 360 does have a standard USB port, BUT it is not nearly as useful as the PS3s.
TTS is a normalized technology. Just because there is a market for AUDIOPLAYS (which is what we are really talking about here, actors voicing a performance), doesnt mean we should abandon or cripple TTS. TTS is NOT an audioplay.
I see a blind advocacy group smacking the hell out of Amazon for this. Comparing TTS to audiobooks is like comparing a high school rendition of hamlet to a big broadway production of it. You hire voice ACTORS for a reason, you dont just plop some schlub in a chair with a script and say 'speak!'
NO what i want is to be able to pre-approve incoming messages before I get charged with it. I am not comfortable with the idea that anyone can spam me with text messages and run up my bill. I sometimes dont look at my phone for days at a time, someone could run up a seriously high bill and I would be at the mercy of the cell company. I dont text nearly enough to justify paying extra for unlimited texts.
The PS3 is a ten year console, just like the PS2 does. They are STILL publishing games for the PS@ and fo the forseeable future.
This does not mean that Sony isnt planning on rolling out a new console before 10 years are up. If MS drops a new console, so will Sony. But to be completely honest, I dont think we are gonna see new consoles for a minimum of 4 years.

LOTS of women. I know being here on slashdot you might have forgotten the concept that women exist.
Exactly! Unbridled democracy is tyranny of the masses.
Cant you provide SMB access to your roms over the network?
I play Mario 64 on my HTPC sometimes with a Xbox 360 wireless controller. Mario 64 @ 1920x1080,
8x AA, 8x aniso is something to behold

I have a 360 and a PS3 in the same cabinet, and I can tell you the PS3 pumps out ALOT of heat as well.
Nintendo is just as evil as their counterparts.
Facebook is a symptom, not a cause.
Il-2 is good, but so is Lock-On: Modern Air Combat, It is a missile lock on game, just deeper then your avg console air combat game.
Ace Combat 6 is actually playable though......
Dell monitors (Model 1907 and up) have HDCP over DVI, just FYI. This is a personal anecdote in response to your statement.
Fallout 3 is getting a patch later to continue the game after the main story actually with 10 more levels. (360/PC only) Sorry PS3.
Why were you surprised? You knew from the moment she wielded the sword she was doomed..

Which tells me she was banned for 'explicit sexual reference'
Free and ubiquitous
Choose plain old text, or else you are in HTML mode and will have to use HTML code to get the results you seek.
Acronym overload! Yes they could, but as you said extremely unlikely

As a lifetime subscriber to digitalblasphemy.com, I would tend to disagree.
