The point is the option should be there so that a person can look at it and say 'Holy shit, what the hell is this?'. It doesnt matter how many actually do it, what matters is that it represents a logical break. Without any way to look or alter the code, its a black box, forever. You dont trust a black box.

and we will believe you. Until such a time as the code can be verified by third-parties, your word is utterly meaningless. Trust, but verify.

  3. The issue is they think that all websites should be encrypted and are working to that end. I should not need a third party cert to deploy a website on the web, period. Use them if you want, they are great, but the idea that all the web must be purged of clear HTTP is utter stupidity and i cannot support that.

  4. Im sorry, but i absolutely cannot take them seriously when they say shit like this " If we’re going to move the entire Web to HTTPS, ".

With this stance, NO ONE should be supporting Lets Encrypt. Their philosophy is anathema to a free and open web. Enough! Lets Encrypt should be considered neutral at best, and outright harmful at worst. Im tired of it being touted as a good thing. This madness has gone too far already.

Evolution laughs at your argument. By your logic DNA would only evolve into a singular form of life, killing off all previous forms. Having hundreds of Linux distros is a good thing. You arent ever going to get your average user to use Linux unless you strip it down, remove their ability to break it and in the process break the reason we use Linux on the first place, to empower the user. If you want to reform Linux and bring in the masses start at AOSP, not the desktop/workstation.

Except in your analysis you ignore that Amazon isnt just shipping bits. Amazon is a completely different animal compared to those others. You can only count AWS as a direct competitor to them. The rest, Amazon utterly destroys them because they deal in real-world goods and all its attendant logistics.
