    The similarities between the US and Soviet shuttles is astonishing. Me thinks there's some serious violation of patents and we should get the Amazon lawyers in here to investigate.

    My big problem with using my cell phone as a land line replacement is the handsets. Landline phones allow me to buy several cheap phones and place them throughout the house. With Digital Cell phones costing $100, and the number sharing not really supported, it makes it much harder. Of course I could just wear my phone around the house all day, but that just seems silly. Any comments?

    Does it worry anyone that the Russian government seems to have so little money that they have to sell joy rides into space and acution off their space capsules to the highest bidder? If they're making these kinds of sales public, what kind of deals are going on behind closed doors? Nuclear warheads for $10 a pop? This is kind of scary. It's incredible to see how quickly a nation can go from being a world power to be humbled this low.

    I don't know who makes it, but a hosting company that I'm looking into has a nice control panel. They even have a live demo setup. It will even allow you to make cron entries.

    But by killing MP3, you create a new "killer app" around the Windows Media Format. Look for the new Rio WMF Player! I really hate to sounds like an MS basher, but how can judges look at this type of activity and not conclude that MS is abusing their (near?) monopoly power? I just can't figure this out. This is definetly a case where if the OS company and the applications company were seperate, there would be less incentive for the OS to limit MP3 functionality.

    A spokeswoman for Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., said privacy and Internet taxation are top priorities for his Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee. McCain and Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., are planning a privacy conference this spring to gather information from the public and industry.

    This is the type of man that I think the high tech sector could have really gotten behind in the election. He was the perfect middle man. Satisfys just enough of each side, and you know he's not wishy-washy. It's too bad that Americans let the parties choose two puppets that nobody wanted to vote for.

    Would it be possible to mount lasers on the spacecraft itself? This would require a powersource, and I don't know if a small enought amount of solar cells could provide this, but you should be able to bounce the light off of the sail. It's analgous to you blowing into your own sails, except that here you might actually be able to affect the motiion of the craft. Would this work? I'm really just brainstorming.

    But remember, you have to have the equipment to be able to print something like that. If you limit the access to that equipment, you limit the problem.

    so the potential for profit of the future owners would be greatly limited.

    It's not like there is no income once the names are sold. You still have to pay a yearly fee. The new owners will be even better off since they can mostly handle renewals and not have to go searching for new business.

    The fact that they got the fix out so quickly means one of two things. A.) the fix was extremely simple and that says to me that they should have caught it before it went out. B.) They've known about the error for some time and already had the fix prepared which is even worse since they should have told us about it before now.

    Caveats:
    If the patch is installed on a system running a version of IE other than the one it is designed for, an error message will be displayed saying that the patch is not needed. This message is incorrect, and customers who see this message should upgrade to a supported version of IE and re-install the patches.


    So let me get this straight. They have bugs in their pathces?! I'm sorry, I need to sit down, this is just too funny.

    Humans just aren't ready to accept eternal life in this world.

    Aside from the things that you mention, I think many humans would also not want to live forever because it would mean never seeing God. I think that is the best reason to "want" to die. The things you can do with infinite time in this world can't compare with the wonder and glory of God in the next.

    I won't even think about gettting a Visor until they fix the flashable ROM issue. I don't want to be stuck with the same OS for the life of the unit. Why hasn't this been fixed? I would think this would be a big issue for people in the know. I love the springboard concept, but come on Handspring!

    I agree that stock traders don't look at .com's customers and features, but Yahoo does have good features. Their email program is much better than the other free-mail sites like hotmail. Their Companion toolbar allows me to keep bookmarks on a server so I have them wherever I am. The briefcase is an easy way to get some quick ftp space. And there is some advantage to a portal, no matter who is providing it. I think these are valuable services, but some of their other projects lack some sense of general usefulness, although maybe newbies get more out of it.

    And that is why you never tell a manager that something is ready to go live untill you have more than enough security in place. It's a much easier sell to take security out in exchange for easier customer interface than to put it in after the site is live.

    But the real question is whether Sealand is an actual country or not. UK has questioned the sovernty of the island, but has not forced the issue. This may force UK to make a decision.

    It's not like canceling the projects destroys all of the things that we've learned from them. The X-33 alone gave us new, much-improved thermal tiles, and I believe that both projects made major improvements in the concept of the aerospike engine. We may not have a "cool flying triangle thingy", we do get real knowledege that can be applied to the existing shuttle, and to other projects. As someone mentioned earlier, these projects were canceled in order to save money that will be spent on other NASA projects. I don't think NASA will just give the money back to the Congress.

    Maybe this is a new MS strategy. Buy a big hunk of your competitor which brings their stability into question. Wait a few weeks while everyone realizes you can buy and sell anyone you want to. Dump the stock and watch the company shrivel and die.

    WaSP seems to have a mantra of acces for everyone. Deaf, disabled. blind. Yet they expect people with older browsers to upgrade regardless. In the US, that may not be such a bi problem, although you'd probably get a good argument from the schools. But how about people in developing countries where the techology is just not available. Is the WaSp advocating for all web users, or just the "modern" user?

    I don't have a problem with them designing their own site this way. It makes sense for their audience. But as a professional web developer, it tells me that the staff at WaSP has forgotten what it's like to develop for real users and they've become lost in their own world. The web is a lot more than developers.

Microsoft provides support to change and develop products based on its operating system software that Linux companies don't, he said. Companies that use Linux in their products then must pay someone else for support, he said.

    Aren't most Linux companies in the support business? They can't sell you the product, so they sell you the support. I'd much rather work with a company that specializes in support than MS which specializes in . . . Well not support.

    Does the tax, apparently it is already in place in the US on blank media, go to all copyrite holders? If so I need to get me one of those. Do you have any idea how much blank media is sold in the US alone? If it only goes to the major labels, what gives? If it only goes to the RIAA, why are they the "speakers" for all copyrite holders? I think I see a new occupation for me. Copyrite inane stuff and start collecting on blank media sales.
