I only have two things bothering me here - this freaking amnesty bill, and people who don't know what they're talking about trying to debate it (what sense does THAT make?) Sorry if I come off as snarky, you haven't posted much on/. have you?
How is it that Congress can effectively amend the consitution (they would be by passing this bill) without going through proper procedure and yet everyone is just going to sit and watch? This bill grants the President and his administration rights they CLEARLY don't have, 'rights' that violate the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. How is it this is even possible?
We've screwed ourselves by electing the best of the best to bend us all over....
thanks everyone!
unfortunately you got the right impression. living/working in Albany, NY I get to see a lot of this with friends that work in (state) senators' offices, nothing ever gets to them without being filtered and they already know where they stand on bigger issues and outright ignore their constituents unless the media gets involved (like spitzer and his give illegals drivers licenses thing)
heck I've written our 'good' senator Schumer a number of times on big issues and all you ever get back is a form letter written by an office intern, no big deal there but you have to know he never reads any of those emails, they get read by the same intern and if you're lucky he summarizes a few of them to his boss later.
you may be right about all the rest of this, but be reasonable - you're the ONLY person I've EVER heard say a 46" screen is small
$5000 for compromising on a TV? do you piss cash?
Is it really a waste? I like to think I got my brother and his wife a really nice DVD player that also just happens to read some format that will never come to fruition.
then again, I'm damn happy I didn't buy one for myself while I was at it
then what good is it?
I can only imagine they think these will mate with normal mosquitoes and so the pop will drop because whichever 'normal' ones mate with the GM ones won't produce offspring, but that just means the normal mosquitoes will have a competitive advantage and breed like crazy - are they really going to be able to release so many of these *all the time* so that it actually impacts their population numbers?
have you tried pointing that thing at the screen for more than a few minutes at a time? unless you get a pistol grip add-on it feels awfully funky on your wrist after a while.
wasn't it the Heritage Foundation that was auctioning off the gold nugget? I think they're two separate organizations, the crappy 'museum' and a group running the auction (where not all items are from said crappy 'museum')
"Does their Planetarium at the bigger museum have the sun revolving around the earth?"
No, because that'd be, like, silly and stuff.
it does have some excellent photographs of Dinosaurs on Noah's ark (yeah they had cameras then, did you think we were talking about hundreds of millions of years ago or something foolish like that?)
did I even spell it right? I remember the crappy keyboard and the old school joystick more than the games (actually, I can't even remember the exact games we had, but that box is still packed away in my father's attic somewhere.)
I can see it now, bunch of old crusty white dudes sitting around a boardroom
"Well, if Congress won't get off their asses and grant us amnesty for warrant-less wiretapping we'll just have to get their attention now won't we"
what would stop me from simply emailing/ftp'ing the files to myself/home machine (encrypted if necessary), then wiping my drive and installing some crapware OS (win98) and then walk through the border with all these "dangerous files?"
just sounds like they're creating more problems then solving, that doesn't sound like *my* government
"who runs a binary that can probably brick your iphone without having the source?"
oh, i don't know, just about every single person out there with a free'd up iPhone.
Mirror Neurons
are they supposed to function only IRL and not when the same thing is presented 'virtually?!'
this 'finding' is common sense, except for all ya'all out there that just can't come to grips with reality.
next!
fair enough, but with the iPhone you've got more options, eBooks app is a great third party application if you don't mind hacking the phone, otherwise there's a number of online sources (of course I can't find the one site I'm thinking about while replying)

I live outside of Albany, NY where, apparently, there is a WiFi freenet available in parts of the city. I have an iPhone (without EDGE enabled) so I've tried to access it with no luck. I have a friend that lives next-door to Washington park (where the city usually has its big events) and he tells me that he can pick up the free'net sometimes on his patio.
bah, i've got nothing more to add, municipal WiFi still seems like vaporware.
read *who* wrote that paper, the major contributor to it was also on the project that unearthered 'the hobbit' , don't you think thety'll have a vested interest in upholding their prior findings?! the hobbit is a modern homo sapien, seriously, end of story, look at the lithics found with her... material evidence be damned apparently, this is 'new species' nonsense is hogwash
Do you seriously think I'd get agro on and NOT call my Congressman? Already done there buddy, but thanks for the advice, you're quite helpful.
