    I only have two things bothering me here - this freaking amnesty bill, and people who don't know what they're talking about trying to debate it (what sense does THAT make?)

    How is it that Congress can effectively amend the consitution (they would be by passing this bill) without going through proper procedure and yet everyone is just going to sit and watch? This bill grants the President and his administration rights they CLEARLY don't have, 'rights' that violate the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. How is it this is even possible? We've screwed ourselves by electing the best of the best to bend us all over.... thanks everyone!

    unfortunately you got the right impression. living/working in Albany, NY I get to see a lot of this with friends that work in (state) senators' offices, nothing ever gets to them without being filtered and they already know where they stand on bigger issues and outright ignore their constituents unless the media gets involved (like spitzer and his give illegals drivers licenses thing)
    heck I've written our 'good' senator Schumer a number of times on big issues and all you ever get back is a form letter written by an office intern, no big deal there but you have to know he never reads any of those emails, they get read by the same intern and if you're lucky he summarizes a few of them to his boss later.

    Is it really a waste? I like to think I got my brother and his wife a really nice DVD player that also just happens to read some format that will never come to fruition. then again, I'm damn happy I didn't buy one for myself while I was at it

    then what good is it? I can only imagine they think these will mate with normal mosquitoes and so the pop will drop because whichever 'normal' ones mate with the GM ones won't produce offspring, but that just means the normal mosquitoes will have a competitive advantage and breed like crazy - are they really going to be able to release so many of these *all the time* so that it actually impacts their population numbers?

    have you tried pointing that thing at the screen for more than a few minutes at a time? unless you get a pistol grip add-on it feels awfully funky on your wrist after a while.

    fair enough, but with the iPhone you've got more options, eBooks app is a great third party application if you don't mind hacking the phone, otherwise there's a number of online sources (of course I can't find the one site I'm thinking about while replying)

I have an iPhone (without EDGE enabled) so I've tried to access it with no luck. I have a friend that lives next-door to Washington park (where the city usually has its big events) and he tells me that he can pick up the free'net sometimes on his patio. bah, i've got nothing more to add, municipal WiFi still seems like vaporware.
