  1. Worth it... on Guitar Hero Downloadable Content Announced, Expensive · · Score: 1

For the addicts out there, totally worth it.

  2. Re:Color me suprised! on 65% of Americans Spend More Time With Their PC Than SO · · Score: 1

That sounds more like "ad" or "spam" to me than "shill". The former are articles, the latter is a person.

  3. Re:Color me suprised! on 65% of Americans Spend More Time With Their PC Than SO · · Score: 1

I'm really getting tired of this "shill" tagging crap. The article is either good or it is not. Blame the editor if it is bad. Blaming the submitter is nothing but cowardly and naive.

  4. Job Descriptions... on Why Don't More CIOs Become CEO? · · Score: 1

Being a CEO isn't as much about knowing the nuts and bolts of a company as it is about knowing the BUSINESS of the nuts and bolts of the company. The CEO is managing, not micromanaging. That's what the COO and CIO are for: to take care of the details while the CEO is schmoozing and networking and doing strategic planning.

  5. Re:If these domains were people... on The Death of Domain Parking? · · Score: 1

I'm a bit tired of hearing the "practicality" or "likability" argument. The truth is that there's money in it...and that's all the incentive that there is in the world to do anything. Period. Complaining about it does precisely zero.

  6. Re:Privacy dies evermore. on NYC 911 to Accept Cellphone Pics and Video · · Score: 2, Insightful

Ah, once again we beat the dead horse. Freedom v. safety. Didn't Thomas Jefferson say something about that?

  7. Re:Nanny State on FBI Arrests Neteller Execs · · Score: 1

Agreed, but also the fact that this is a battle that can be easily "won" from a political perspective...unlike some other battles...

  8. Re:In related news: on Videogaming Most Popular Activity Among Kids · · Score: 2, Insightful

Indeed. I figure I'm one of the members of the first video gaming generation. I played a LOT of games when I was a kid. But we still tooled around outside something fierce. I just don't see kids doing that these days (or, for that matter, engaging in non-planned activities). Maybe I'm just getting old.

  9. Nostalgia... on Predicting the Internet in 1995 · · Score: 1

Anytime I can read things like this, it makes me feel as if I could cut the nostalgia with a knife...

  10. The point... on iPod Generation Indifferent to Space Exploration · · Score: 1

I think it is a matter of seeing the point. With no national rallying cry and the "mundane" nature of what we've seen in our lifetimes (as well as Challenger/Columbia), the return is difficult to easily see. I think we've also been desensitized by science fiction: we want our warp drive, we want our FTL drives, and we surely want Adama to jump the ship straight into the atmosphere. Silly relativity screws everything up...

  11. Re:License RPGs... on Battlestar Galactica Pen and Paper RPG · · Score: 2

Disagree, bro. The world of BSG is rich (as is that of Firefly). You'll need a GM who can work well with that, but that being accomplished, it should be a great game.

    That being said:

"...featuring still images from the series as well as original artwork."

    Yeah...

  12. Re:Like a kind of technological Jesus Christ on Top Ten Apple Rumors of All Time · · Score: 1

Are you kidding me? He played games we can only dream about. (At least until the PS8 comes out.)

  13. Well done... on Using Cellphones to Track Your Kids · · Score: 1

Well written, Mr. Pogue. I am quite impressed with the turns of phrase.

  14. Don't lump... on Red Hat Sales Surge · · Score: 2, Insightful

People love to lump every distro under the sun together. There are significant differences. After all, not ALL are in bed with Gates, right?
