Precisely A.C.
I grep'd "fight", then ""stand" to get here - assuming somebody would have suggested you "stand and fight" for you rights.
Of course, you could cry on your blog like Perez Hilton about how "violence doesn't solve anything". Then again, you can
let the bastards know that somebody's going to get hurt if they keep pushing. Freedom is a very real commidity, and apparently
it's very real to you as you can measure it slipping away. Good men died in order for you to enjoy what freedoms you enjoy today.
Perhaps you don't have a problem with that. My answer to your question is that you're due for a come to Jesus moment. Given
the choice, would you die free or live in slavery? A very personal question yes, but you can't secure freedom by emigrating unless
of course somebody else has already done the wetwork. You're stupid, right?
Too late, young Virak, as this long-discredited bullshit is now U.S. policy. Did you know that CO2 is a pollutant? Did you know that "too cold to snow" should have two o's in it? Did you know that evolution has never been able to explain the development of the eye, or even the alleged gaps in the fossil record? An enlightened debate indeed! Have you heard that all those people at those TEA parties last Wednesday were racist retards? Yep. Heard that on the TV. Wait... wait for it....on MSNBC!
The only lasting effects I see here are the tired old prejudices some people hold for our South. Jerry Falwell is a NORTH Carolina boy, and the little BMW you fancy is "South Carolina's Own". They got a sign to that effect on I-85. The haters are mostly here in the North, but seeing as how much we hate people we don't see much point in joining groups of people(duh). Georgia's a wonderful place today, you should try it. But stay away from Alabama - especially around Birmingham. I think their welcome centers are staffed by the descendants of the Nazis who infiltrated during The Bulge.
Which may or may not have included Kennedy's assassination. But that's academic. What we can take note of here is the choice of adjectives and adverbs. Conservatives use "surely" and "evidently",
liberals use "shit" and "fuck". One conservative said "fucking bitch", hence the exception that proves the rule.
Good point! A McGovern presidency would've saved us from Jimmy Carter, after which the Le May administration would have ushered in the radioactive Pax Amerikana. God bless the spiteful Mr. Felt, and let us warmly remember simpler times. Perhaps there are those of you who believe America still has a media that would so staunchly defy the presidency (e.g. Obama in a month). I would consider that wishful thinking, something akin to the dim-witted optimism they're busy stirring up for Windows 7.
I try to avoid touchscreens, and here's why. I once arrived at my local ATM (in an affluent suburb of NYC) just as a chatty ATM serviceman was finishing up with it. He went on about how some people get angry when they can't get any money out so they'll urinate on them and stuff. I haven't taken to keeping wipes in the car, but I do try wash my hands soon after. This is just the sort of thing that more people should be aware of, and what better place to share than Slashdot?
We let Abdullah Massoud out in March of 2004, then killed him the following October. He had masterminded the
kidnapping of Chinese engineers working on the Gomal Zan Dam in Pakistan. Keep in mind that the gentle scholars
and philanthropists being held in Gitmo were trying to chew through the hydraulic lines of the aircraft on the way there.
Let them out and they'll murder innocents. You might want to see how the innocents feel about that - brutal murder
usually trumps righteous indignation.
Gentlemen, please! It's all about money - as always. Evil Dictator? Imagine if our campaign financing laws were "reformed" to the point where a genuinely popular candidate would have to spend YEARS fundraising... We presently have a choice between an old white socialist, a young black socialist, and a woman socialist. What election? I'm leaning towards the woman socialist as she may not owe as much to foreign money as the other two,
but that's splitting hairs. AND I live in New York. Bummer.
So, McNamara wasn't an asshole? Last I heard he was shilling for the Saudis. And he was one of the architects of the Vietnam War! His words have merit? Here's some words: "Oil for food" "Darfur" "Ethnic Cleansing" "Jettison-able Weapon Inspectors". Perhaps Americans will complain more anout the UN, because we're picking up more of the tab for that puppet show? And yes, America was an isolationist country, hence our delayed entrances in WWI & WWII. But it could have been a lot worse - had we the likes of Senator Kennedy in the 40's, today we'd all be our sentences with the verbs ending.
You could preface your question by explaining how the human eye was evolved! Then after winning the hearts and minds of cynics everywhere, you can then have your way with them. We once had a "brilliant" president, you may well be too young to remember, but 30 years after the fact they're still trying to rub some Armorall on his turd of a presidency. Gas lines, double-digit inflation, The Allman Brothers - and he helped make Iran what it is today. But I'm sure he can still hold a convincing conversation, when he's not flying around the world, undermining democracy and freedom. When it comes to shrill, strident and annoying, the Darwinists have the Creationist beat. Show me the fossil record, or put me on the horn to Jesus, and maybe then I'll take sides. Hegel, Marx and Hitler loved Darwin, Elvis loved Jesus - that's good enough for me.
I saw Whoopee Goldberg on O'Reilly - "I don't have to support my opinions, it's just how I feel". I also saw Bernie Goldberg (no relation) on CNN - "The conservatives are watching O'Reilly, the liberals are watching "Friends"." To me it makes perfect sense. Rugged individualism or something. A lot of people would be perfectly happy to have the government wipe their ass for them, and God bless them. Then there are those of us who will wipe their own bottoms, thank you very much. I'm been using Linux Mint since last December, and I can't say enough good things about them, but if you don't like to think, Linux is not for you. I learned today that Rudy Giuliani voted for George McGovern in '72, and that makes perfect sense to me as well. If you're willing to think, and learn, there's no telling where you'll end up. Then again, if that's not your cup of tea, I've heard Windows Vista has this "Wow factor"...
I looked through the links to find that phrase, but I didn't see it anywhere. It sounds like Southern Redundancy, but I can't trace it to Duke. Call me a pill, but wouldn't you get your Irish up if you saw "RAM memory", or "CPU processor" in an otherwise really neat article? I know I would! And I'm not even Ann Coulter. Honest.
Or - we create a voucher system for private schools, making education competitive. There's nothing on your list that a vital, more responsible system wouldn't fix. Then of course, we'd have all of those well-educated voters out there...
It's simply the background noise of a waning presidency.
We haven't heard from these creeps in eight years, now nobody cares, so the kids act up.
It could be worse - we could all be Iranian Nuclear Scientists.
(With apologies to all you Iranian Nuclear Nuclear Scientists out there.)
And for the benefit of all you Iranian Nuclear Scientists who saw "Dr. Strangelove" - you know that part where
General Turgidson says "Remember to say your prayers"? It couldn't hurt. After all, we're experiencing a waning presidency.
George Bush will never face another election in this lifetime. He can do as he damn well pleases, so let's
try not to piss him off too much, shall we?
I kinda think the Green Team was set up here. "Here's the specs guys, go for it!(muffled chortling)" And now they're getting it - for being too friendly to
the Linux community. UT2004 plays great in Linux on Nvidia, the old UT plays great in wine, and I can't tell you the last time I booted Windows.
As for ATi, a friend bought an R9100-based laptop for Christmas, and most live distros can't even make it into a desktop, let alone support
the wireless (Slackware's doing ok with wired ethernet but no 3D). This of course now qualifies them as the new darlings of the early adopters. "When THEY release a DX10 card (on paper)
THEY won't make me wait three days for a driver!"
I've been suspicious since seeing a benchmark comparison a couple years ago, in which Nvidia dominated, except for MS titles which ATi ran away with.
How exactly does that happen?
