From ArcherB
The point is to show a double standard by everyone here and the media as a whole. Sorry, but you have to apply the same rules to everyone. I brought Reagan into it as well, so it's not just a party thing. What ArcherB said. Heaven on high forbid someone point out the double standard - it's okay to whip Bush but not Clinton. Point is, both had issues, both sucked in their own way.
No, it's not a non-issue because it's been done before, but it gets more than slightly ridiculous when morons like you (SatanicPuppy) act as if it's NEVER been done before.
The fastest flows of matter in the universe shoot out of dying stars at more than 99.999% the speed of light And since we know that mass increases as something approaches the speed of light, I suppose this explains why so many of the FORMER (read: career death) stars of American Idol have put on so much weight!
For the sake of the scientists that worked on this project, I sincerely hope they 'transported' data that isn't 'protected' by the DMCA or I'm sure the RIAA/MPAA will cause this technology to become still-born.
I suppose it really depends on what you're looking for in a conputer/solo RPG or MMORPG - also, let's not forget table top RPGs. For my own part, and there are a few in my 'gaming circle' that tend to agree with my outlook, I play a solo RPG for the story - it's rather like reading a good book when everything is done well, just without exercising the mind's eye to picture the details. When I'm feeling more social, I'll play either a table top RPG or MMORPG. It's my way of being a gaming nerd/geek, but without sacrificing my social life - although I tend to prefer the table top games just for the added human interaction.
I guess it all comes down to what you want to get out of whatever game you're playing. I think both solo RPGs and MMORPGs are here to stay (sentence stolen from the Obvious Department). Neither is really a rival to the other, just one more time sink to fret over.
lame, unoriginal rip-off of project revolution with physics effects.
I bet its would lag too.Havok engine is pretty resource heavy.
I'm not even bothering to get a pirated copy.
Woohoo! One less person that I'll have to beat (read: lose to) on the Ladder!!
Someone, anyone, please mod the parent up. When I first looked at this story, the first three or four main comments were 'does it run on mac ox?'. Take a minute and read the FAQ, don't jump to conclusions because ONE article omitted a reference to Linux and/or OSX.
Are grindfests, and nothing more. WoW is horribly dumbed down. Almost no penalty for dieing, especially in PVP
I really hate it when they don't penalize me for making casts and molds.
This just in, KopyKatUber1337 of Undercity was arrested today for virtual genocide of Gnomes. He's quoted as raving "Pink-haired Gnomes, gotta kill'em all" while gutting any World of Warcraft toon under 3 feet tall.
I still remember playing the old Tiger handhelds. They weren't 'console' systems, but they were among my first introduction into portable gaming. They sure were fun ways to pass the time. I still have several of them, like Castlevania, Paperboy, Double Dragon, and Star Trek. Then again, I also remember playing the oldBaseball.
Wow... Someone needs to calm down. My comments were meant in jest - to show the potential for just about anything to be used as a scapegoat for holier than thou types that deem things to be 'evil' just because they can be used for something "dirty".
National Geographic is a perfectly acceptable and useful magazine, nothing inherently wrong with it. So to is a Wii, a PSP, and internet access acceptable and useful. When the USER begins to perform activities that are, to some, questionable, then the USE should be condemned, not the medium through which it was performed.
Throwing out your obvious distain for anything remotely related to BDSM (hey, it works for some, who is anyone else to judge them), your assertion that "Body == GOOD" and "Nudity != porn" wouldn't hold up to the people that are condemning the Wii and PSP. These are the same people that want David and other centuries old works of art censored for showing 'too much of the human body'. Besides, to prove "Body == GOOD" wrong, just look at my flabby hairy ass - ain't nothing good or decent about that action.
In their righteous fervor they seem to have missed the GOVERNMENT (local gov'ts anyway) supporting free access to porn. Why in most cities across the country little Timmy can go to his local library and check out old issues of National Geographic - which, as we all know, has plenty of pictures of Nubian goddesses in all their naked glory!
Let them go nuts on the Wii and PSP! As long as they don't take my National Geographic!
Obligatory Chasing Amy [imdb.com] quote - "What's a Nubian?"
I can replace those RFID's for the fraction of the cost - with the same basic outcome.
Ladies (yeah, there are so many here) and gentlegeeks, I give you....
The dog collar and leash!
Already made fashionable by Goths and kinksters the world over - these handsome and/or lovely accessories come in a variety of shapes and colors to fit every occasion. Great for keeping track of guest workers, immigrants, and wandering children.
Amen brotherman (or sistergirl as the case may be)! Go tell it on the mountain...or at least some forums.
CH was my favorite profession in SWG. Sure I wasn't the most uberleetyeah nerd on the block, but it was fun running around with my three bio-engineered Rancors. If you've never seen a height-maxed Wookiee carrying a T-21 rifle dancing with three Rancors in step behind me - well then my friend, you simply haven't lived... (or you got a LOT more sun than I did during the year and a half I played SWG).
I have to say, even as a minor SW geek, I'm intrigued by this. I like the idea of being a 'bad guy' from the outset, that isn't something you see a lot of in games - usually the game is setup so you play as the hero.
I remember wishing, back in the day when I used to watch cartoons like GI Joe, Transformers, and Thundercats - I believe this was last Thursday, that the bad guys would win one - if only to mix things up a bit.
I like being given a choice to be good or evil, a la the Knights of the Old Republic series, but sometimes it's just so much more fun to be straight up evil. The idea alone has me wanting to see/hear more - if the game play lives up to the theory, I may even buy this 350,001st Star Wars title.
That said, I do agree that seeing some of the older lines brought back to life would be wonderful. Guybrush Threepwood for Emperor.
Whether you want to call it "flamebait" or not, the OP is correct. If JT limited himself to keeping M rated games out of the hands of those that are too young, he'd have support coming out of the woodwork. If he poured his time and effort into educating parents and those with the power about video games (and did it correctly, leaving the rhetoric on the curb) and lobbied to have the sanctioned rating system enforced (much like the movie rating system) - then he wouldn't come off as quite such a nut.
Instead he rambles endlessly about violence in video games, quotes decades old studies, and basically blames all of the evils of society on video games - leaving no blame for the abscent parents that allow their kids to play games with subject matter well beyond their years. He brow beats anyone that disagrees with him. He attempts to have games outright blocked/destroyed. And meddles in a rating system that, while flawed, he has no real perspective on.
I'm all for letting people play the games they enjoy and letting the manufacturers have freedom to develope the games they wish to make - but I'm also in favor of keeping game with content like rape, murder, drugs, and teletubbies out of the hands of those too young to *really* understand them.
Well as the subject implies, I'm very hopeful that they'll be able to pull this project off and the RPG community will be able to add another quality product to our shelves, after seeing how the Serenity RPG was handled I won't be holding my breath (for too long).
I was one of those overly enthusiastic types that bought the first printing of the Serenity RPG, while it IS a good system of play and I enjoy playing and writing modules/campaigns for it, the initial editing of the book left quite a bit to be desired.
The first THREE printings of the book lacked two basic, major items for any RPG - character sheet and index. The need for both, I hope, is self-explanatory. If not - the inclusion of a character sheet screams 'obvious'. Every system has its own little quirks and ways of things interacting, the character sheet is the most basic way for all those things to be tied together in a neat little package, making it easier (not necessarily *easy*) for players, especially new players, to understand how to play the character's numbers - that way the player doesn't always have to know every rule/line from the book. And as for the index, how can you create something as complex as a roleplaying gaming system and expect players to flip through the entire book or read an entire chapter to find the details of, say, 'Dodge'. An index is crucial, enough said.
To add insult to injury, it took them almost a year to publish both of these items as 'free bonus material' on the Serenity RPG website.
Add the fact that there were few to no examples of just about anything involving rolling the dice (no combat example, no flight maneuvering examples, nadda...) had the players pretty much making up the rules as they went along. I'm all for free form RPG (I'm a gamer after all), but not after paying a good sum of money for a system that should have been (more) complete at release. I really believe the game was play tested by those that wrote the system - already being intimately knowledgeable of how things *should* work, they missed the obvious failings in the book. Unfortunately, unlike computer/console games, the publisher can't just release a patch - they have to release a completely new printing/edition.
All that said, I do think it's a great system and love playing, but the book wasn't the best. If MW can do better with the BSG, I'll be impressed. But being the geeky little fanboy I am, I'll probably rush out and buy the first edition/printing of the BSG RPG book anyway.:-p
Not that it matters any more, but I wonder what jackass modded the parent as 'Redundant'. Pretty sure this was a unique comment. Idiot...

Only 4 of the 11 Big Ten schools were singled out. I feel honored to include my own Purdue University among the few.
Go Boilers!

I had no idea they were making modes/casts of 'Traditional Media'. Why wasn't I informed?! What else haven't you told me!?
Funny you should mention Kalamazoo... That's where I'm at now. Fortunately the work day is almost over!
It's random, sure, but apt.
To put it another way, and to quote a very fine show -
BOOK: 'Cause how you get there is the worthier part' [Firefly]

All that, the bag of chips, and a glass of lemonade and I STILL can't run Oblivion with max settings and get a decent FPS...
