Well actually I've sold one to a non-geek. She was really happy with it, the battery could have been better.
And seriously, why does the non-geek get to decide whats good and whats not? No one gives 2 shits what your grandma thinks of anything.
But do your friends and family who visit your house love having to wait their turn to use the keyboard and mouse instead of hooking up controllers 2, 3, and 4 and playing immediately?
I love the PS3. I love the Xbox.
But do you love the consoles' entry barriers against small developers?
After 8 years (Red Hat, Slackware, Arch, Mandriva, Ubuntu, Fedora you name it basically ) I gave up. Swallowed any geek pride I had left and installed XP. It's not about user friendliness or anything. As far as I'm concerned Ubuntu or whatever distro you want, is ready for the desktop - the rest of the world just needs to catch up. Unfortunately that isn't happening anytime soon I guess.
I love linux but ATM it's asking the same stupid questions Windows does and it doesnt have any good audio production tools, don't say Ubuntu studio or any other of that crap. My servers still run linux though.
-1 We did an install on 50 workstations..total fail. Re-installing windows 30 machines here now, still a few to go. The windows server also got butfucked....thanks Kaspersky a few more cases like this and I can retire.
Because of the support nightmare it would cause when Joe Sixpack discovers he can't run his $10 game from Walmart on his new Linux-preinstalled computer (and he chose Linux because he didn't know it wasn't Windows, and he was cheap).
Then the OEMs have to opportunity to create an "aftermarket" business, just like the automakers.
I am sure Apple did it only to make someone else happy (labels, investors, foreign governments, us government, etc...) however, it's ridiculous to suggest that this will do anything but increase piracy.
Wow do you think pirates are that sensitive? That they would hijack more boats and kill more ppl? And just because Apple doesnt want to sell them music? They must get really lonely at sea... those poor pirates.
and its not the default desktop! did you even read the link in your post??? The installer lets you chooose which to desktop to use KDE3.5, KDE4 and Gnome. The installer even tells you KDE4 is not mature enough for day-to-day use! I'd post a link to screenshots from the installer but I wont cause you wont read it anyway. Screenshots (every step of the install) can be found on opensuse's site, if anyones intressted
