You're being pedantic. You could make the same argument about an artificial heart. "But it requires an outside power source! It's not REALLY a replacement for the heart."
Yes, there's some marketing going on, but the article clearly states that the advantage of this system is that it works without user input. That may not seem like a big deal to you, but as the father of a Type 1 Diabeted I can assure you that it's actually a very significant change.
Re:THIS is the kind of thing that GamerGate is about (Score:?) by Anonymous Coward on Friday November 14, 2014 @10:07AM Actually most game websites that publish reviews feel that embargoes are a GOOD thing.
They make money on traffic. Traffic is driven by reviews. Review traffic only lasts a day or two at best. Embargoes allow them to get games early and spend time to write a good review, rather than rushing through a game to try to get a crappy review up in the first hours after launch.
I think all the sites that I've read (Kotaku, Polygon, and Wired) agree that embargoes that last until after the game is launched are disingenuous (at best) on the part of the publishers, but all of them are philosophical about the system and seem to think it works well in most cases.
Savvy consumers can read the tea leaves. If there are lots of advance reviews the publisher is confident in the game. If there are NO reviews then most likely it's a dog.
I was there. He prefixed most comments with "I don't want to be prescriptive to future authors" or "It's dangerous to make predictions because they were often wrong." He certainly never claimed, or even insinuated, that he was partly or even mostly responsible.
No, that's right. Because all the characters are the same width (including the small ones like "i" and "." using two spaces with a mono-spaced font makes the whitespace after a period more apparent, because there is more whitespace around the letters in general.
Of course, I'm in the 1-space camp, but there is a visual reason for having two spaces in a monospaced font.
That's ridiculous. Jordi just needs to recalibrate the warp emitters to generate a Micro Magnetic Partially Hydrogenated Tachyon Burst and we're good to go.
Also you can't use salt to de-ice in the winter. Destroys the concrete surface quickly, which is why there are some concrete highways in the Southern US, but none in New England...
But this doesn't hold water for PC games, where getting a pirated copy of the game is much simpler (googling for a torrent of the game) than jailbreaking your phone.
So yeah, the estimates are still probably really high, but I bet they are higher for PC games than for iPhone games.

Bullshit article title.

Suddenly "A Fire Upon the Deep" seems a little bit less like science fiction.
If you stay out of the Hinterlands the trolls might not bother you so much.
T'rain did it first.
I was always partial to our rockband.com error page:
www.rockband.com/40404
I think Jon meant that he's going to put more songs into Rock Band 3 via the Rock Band Network (creators.rockband.com),
NOT that there are going to be Pro Guitar JoCo songs in RB3. None of those are planned.
Sweet!
Whoops: Linky: http://twitter.com/#!/VZWSupport/status/74072016147324928
Unfortunately, it looks like Verizon won't allow unlocked HTC phones on their network.
Hmmm....
Like this?
http://www.rockband.com/songs (2,566 songs and counting)
This is a terrible article, it's poorly written, one sided, and seems to be based on the personal preferences of the writer.
Couldn't we find a better discussion of game DLC than this?

What were we talking about again?

So what happens to the roads after a few years when the nitrogen dissolves the road surface and you have to re-pave?
Is this the same chemical reaction that is causing limestone facades all over Europe to dissolving in polluted cities?

This is what Audible Magic does. Exactly.

So google is doing it again?

No, you are wrong, you get 30% of the total sales of the song.
Interesting that they haven't been bragging lately about how many subscribers they have. I suspect their user base has peaked or is declining.
This one getting modded informative was way funnier than the second joke.
...lets you play online in bands over Xbox live or PSN.
Every one of those loading screens shows the same character. So either he's faking the screens or he's generated level 1 orc warriors for the photo.
