It's 10X easier to fit 100 people in bikes on a road than 100 people in cars on a road. You're giving a simpleton answer, things in real life are not black and white.
As the subject says. At least that way I have a choice in paying it. Taxes are one of the two sure things in life, I'd rather have a choice in paying for it.
I don't agree with what Bush is doing, however this isn't a freedom of the press issue. The media is banned from covering returning soldiers on federal lands (military bases). The media is banned from covering many things on military bases, such as sensitive military areas for example.
The difference I have seen between Indian and domestic programmers is that, and I am greatly generalizing here, domestic programmers have chosen the industry out of love for programming whereas Indian choose to go into programmer merely to better their financial position. Either way is a valid reason I suppose, but the difference is apparent when you work with them. YMMV as they say.
Um, if everyone had one of these, wouldn't that be the same as when noone had these? How would it choose one holder over another? It probably wouldn't.
I doubt very highly that the average American has two jobs... I don't know anyone who has two jobs so that surprises me. I'm sure that the more Americans than Europeans have two jobs but I doubt it's average. If you can find some citation of this fact, then I will stand corrected.

I think that the problem seems to be the cost of living. I can tell you that in Boston, the rental market is actually more reasonable, my friend is renting an apartment in Allston for $550 a month.
AFAIK, the reason why the housing market is so outrageous in California is that they cannot build enough houses to keep up with demand.
Well as far as I know, that episode lasted only a few days/weeks (I don't quite recall which). If you had been in for a prolonged oil shortage, people would've changed their ways. They would've had no choice.
Well... I would hope they wouldn't make people get rid of other cars. The real pollution comes with daily commuting, which you are unlikely to do in your Ferrari. It could be economically encouraged somehow, like with a tax break.
There are numerous federal, state, and local initiatives moving towards renewable energy in the US. Try learning something before you post ignorance on the internet.
Hydro isn't popular with the environmentalists though either... it's disruptive to the natural ecosystem. Add to that fact that they don't like solar or wind because it's unsightly... it's hard to know exactly what is politically correct to power our stuff with.:)
Well, then it's a good thing it doesn't pay fully for textbooks... you're going to have to repay financial aid back at some point and you would never know that you were gouged for textbooks 10-20 years down the road.
Yes but don't you see? The same problems that could occur with touch-screen voting could occur with scantron... any digital technology can be tampered with.
We need a place somewhere in the world to be the money generating region with insane gun laws, an abundance of steak restaurants, European film remakes and bad coffee (see: Transparent).
Thanks for not passing this on to us, BTW...:-)
To some of us here in the states this sounds like Europe.:)
Standards are exactly what we *don't* want. Imagine if the entire election system was standardized and used Diebold machines?

That's great... you won't use a lot of gas when you drive to the market to buy your whine. :)

With all the jobs going to India, what else are they gonna do?

You're also forgetting about probably the biggest negative for motor(scooters/cycles) ... weather. Try riding a motorcycle in the snow... it's not fun.

Ever tried riding a motorbike/scooter in the snow (or even the rain)? Not fun.

Although gasoline is cleaner burning than diesel.
Just FYI.
America exports the best and worst to everyone.

My point exactly. :)
You sure seem to like (and need) our money though.
CN Tower is usually discounted because it's barely a building... more like a structure.
