Five errors from what I've read. Makes one question it all. As one should.
Global Warming's a sham and does not matter. Pollution matters. Gore and his ilk hurt the issue because they are such big polluters and hypocrites. The biggest thing Gore could do to help is stop breathing.
Microsoft didn't save Apple. Apple doesn't need Office. Office is an elephant in a row boat. Too much feature bloat and lack of focus. Elephants also don't have thumbs.
Didn't the NYT do this before in the beginning when they went to the web? I ignored them. If they start charging I'll stop reading. There are too many free sources of information. Publishing costs an order of magnitude than it did as print media. I know. I was a publisher, editor, writer, etc. They need to figure out the ad model again.
Not only that but it is tax payer funded in many cities. We don't have one of these, er, book 'lenders' in our town so I pay a little money ($5) to join the 'library' in the nearby city were I can, ahem, 'borrow' books. Sometimes I just read them there though...
Didn't they try that before. They built it and nobody came. I didn't bother reading it until it was free. Reading for a fee, I'll skip it again. There is more than enough free content and they aren't producing enough interesting content.
Turn off Java, Javascript, plugins. The web is so much nicer without those. Turn them on for sites you want them on. Machete them. Use something like Pithhelmet for Safari to hack the web back to your specs. Works for me.
Flying cars are a really bad idea. The vast majority of drivers are failing in 2D. Add another dimension to fail in and the problem explodes. I also don't want them over my house, land, pastures. Costs and fuel consumption will hopefully kill this dead.
How about investing in real small farms. You don't have to be a huge investor. Make a small loan. Buy pastured pork. Build a future of real food. See below.
This same problem happened on the Macintosh. Back under MacOS 9 and before there was a great deal of wonderful children's educational software. The companies consolidated and died off. Much of the software does not work in Classic under MacOS X. Now with Classic being abandoned by Apple even that which did work in Classic is no longer available. It's still great software, just no hardware and operating system to run it. I maintain an older computer for this. I used to have four. I'm down to one. Eventually there will be none. Very sad to lose this resource. Apple should have supported the older software on the newer hardware. Minor cost, minor emulation, major benefit to millions of children.
"While we had originally planned to release the product to the public and take a percentage of the revenue, we have realized that we can make more money by selling the application to a funded company entering the social gaming space."
Don't get your hopes up about selling the company. If it is such a great idea you would do it and make money. You need to get it into the market place and demonstrate a sales history before you are likely to get much interest or a good price. Do it yourself.
Just because the ideal does not exist in practice is no reason to stop supporting the ideal. Keep moving towards free speech and free markets.
While you're on that topic, another interesting and related issue is that the spectrum of socialism vs capitalism spreads across circles of distance.
Finally. I HATE the way retailers are predating on consumers. I do not give gift cards because of this. Companies are stealing by devaluing cards. They have our money, interest free. The gift cards should stay valid forever. I hope the government nails them on this hard. Retroactively too.
Sooo... Next we'll have all the passengers traveling nude? Think: Two Chemicals. Two Implants. Twist nipples to activate. Big Boobed Bombers.
Besides, if you want to save the planet aren't you supposed to avoid air travel?
"How does Santa Claus manage to traverse the entire globe in just a few hours, delivering presents to millions of well-behaved children?"
No, no, you missunderstand. The problem is backwards. There are very, very few deliveries he has to make so he is easily able to do it without using any magic or advanced science. Silly people, use Occom's razor.
I type, with my fingers, very quickly and accurately. I do not think about the individual letters. My hands are trained to short cuts. There are many things that I type frequently and those I type even faster, about 300 wpm. I love the idea, but it can't be based on letters. A keyboard may look like it is based on letters but it has a very good short hand / short cut system between it and my thinking. Thinking about the individual letters would slow me down considerably.
Cheers

All this so they can try and sell us .abc, .bcd, .cde, .def and other versions of the domains. Big money for domain registrars.

Don't buy DRM stuff. Others will offer non-DRM stuff. Buy that. Capitalism is the solution. It will drive the stupidity out of the market.

One more example of why the patent system needs to be eliminated. Let us invalidate _all_ patents, not just one other of theirs.
