Unschool, unsmool. Schooling is a continuous part of life, not some sit in a box and be taught at thing. We've homeschooled all of our kids. They are doing college level work. They had already mastered all the pre-collage stuff by 12. Traditional schooling is designed to turn out good workers, square pegs to fit in square holes, and wastes a tremendous amount of time doing so.
Global Warming is no big deal.
An ice age would be far, far more disastrous.
Realty check: the temperature of the planet has gone up and down repeatedly. History will repeat itself. That's natural.
In our family we recycle computers. When a new one gets bought the computer it replaced gets passed down. Older machines are still goldies with years or even decades of life still left in them. Of course, there is always the Macquarium solution at the end of the line...:)
Highly advanced technology from an alien culture left to my by my distant ancestors. It's called a hammer.
But wait, there are better things to do with a defunct hard drive. Open it up for crimminy sake. It is full of super magnets and all sorts of other fun. In the process you'll destroy it and have a lot more fun.
What you've done is fine. Releasing the source code, especially keeping it up as you add to it, makes it fine. Even with free beer someone has to wash the glasses.
Once again demonstrating why we must destroy the malignant patent, trademark and copyright system which has grown like a cancer to stifle creativity in our societies.

We've seen this in Vermont. The plant owners under funded the dismantling fund, invested it in high risk investments and lost even more. I doubt they'll ever pay for it. Instead tax payers will be left to foot the bill, even though we didn't benefit from the electricity where I am. Gee. Thanks.
This emphasizes just how rotten to the core is our patent system. Software patents are asinine. Patents on life are even worse. The whole system should be dumped.
So, Jeffy-Boy is going to make good and put the books back, right... He needs to clean up his mess and right on the blackboard, "I will not steal" 1,048,576 times.
Generally I agree with him but not this time. I don't want someone looking over my shoulder and seeing my password. I touch type very fast. I don't need to see the passwords and I certainly don't need other people seeing them.
Pastured livestock don't burp and toot as much methane. In any case it is not actually as significant as some people are saying. The numbers are being distorted and exaggerated for political purposes. Still, buy locally pastured meat. It's a better choice and uses resources, pasture land, that you can't eat rather than grain.
X Panasonic off the list of possible cameras. They're just trying to force consumers to fill their greedy pockets. Some camera makers have done this with memory cards too. I won't buy.
Sad. He is confusing the medium with the message. Libraries don't matter. They are elitist collections that restrict access. Putting his books on the Internet would make it so that more people could access them. People who like himself couldn't afford to go to college. I live in a rural area. We farm. I can't waste time going to the city to the library for books. College is a waste of time. I can get the info online. Libraries are old tech and just a tool, not content. Bradbury is lost in the past. Too bad. So sad.
So? My processor is running at 12%, my screen is dimmed to 40%, that's normal. I got longer than advertised battery time for years. (My battery is now old so not surprisingly it is getting less time per charge.) If I want to do hard work I plug in to wall power but if I'm running off battery I'm thankful that the machine tones down it's power consumption. That's good power management. Frankly, this was a whiny say-nothing article.
Grinding up paved roads is a very good idea, and not just for gravel. The paved roads are horribly expensive to keep up. When they go bad from the frost heaves every year the cost of fixing them is far more than for maintaining a dirt road. A dirt road can be easily graded and ditched. It is easy to add more culverts to control water on a dirt road. Resurfacing a dirt road is cheap. All of this is far more expensive and time consuming to do on a tarred road.
Yes, on highly travelled roads and city streets, the paving makes sense. But not out here in the rural areas. Just slow down and enjoy the view.

Hello Big Brother Smith...
Of course, you tested how the copper will react with the concrete... You might want to look into PEX.

That article was an excellent example of a lack of understanding of biology and evolution. Too bad it got any press.

Good reason not to use anything they touch.
Good. I hope Amazon loses. They should be ashamed of playing the role of Big Brother.

Good. I hate voice mail and tag. Email is so much more efficient.

In real news the consumer's don't even care or notice. AP, having hidden their news, goes unnoticed.

I did.
Yuk. I don't like doing video. Text is more efficient and searchable. Bad Obama.

Ah, what evil lies in the heart of Kindle... Only the Amazon knows!
