And really who is actually affected by WGA crap? Only those people that are honest users but bought a used computer or bought one from someone shady.
Anyone that uses pirated software will just move on to the next crack or hack to keep running illegal software.
The truth is that because MS software is SO pirated it helps their sales because people get use to it.
So they should patch those machines to help people's confidence in the security of their products and stop pushing out bull crap like WGA and IE8 as a critical security update.
I have been a Windows user since 3.11 and have seen all the highs and lows of Windows. I have also been a Apple user since the Apple II+. I also have supported both OSes for over 20 years. My comment about Windows 7 is simple. It's Vista fixed.
I have 5 computers in my house and not a single one used Vista as it's primary OS. I have one desktop that did dual boot to Vista and XP (had to since I have clients that had Vista) but I never used Vista. After my experience with Windows 7 Beta 2 and it crashed my pc and screwed up my dual boot causing me to have to do a format and reinstall to get XP back up I was ready to just skip it but...
I have had zero issues since I installed it on a POS for testing 4 weeks ago. I only had to load one driver and that was for an old AMD processor.
I think the fact that they did such a widely available beta allowed them to actually do a good job this time.
My recommendation: If you have Vista upgrade yesterday. If you have a PC bought in the last two years and have XP upgrade when you want.

Why Games Cost $60

The reason it cost $60 is because that is what we are willing to pay. To the person that posted the question spend the money to get a college economics class. You really are clueless.
If he is offering to REIMBURSE you for your purchase then it is not company property. It is your property and you can do anything you want with it including throwing it in the trash. Your company is reimbursing you for expenses related to your job. (I have been working in IT for over 25 years and have had this issue come up at least a dozen times) For it to be company property the company must purchase it and then give it to you.
Think of it like this does a company own your car when they reimburse you for the mileage you have traveled on company business? Obviously not. So it is your laptop even if you take the money. Just be sure that the company IT guy does install anything on your laptop.
I think that it is way past time that us as consumers tell companies we are DONE with Walled Gardens. Sure they work in the short term but long term we hate it. And any business model that relies on it will eventually fail. Just look at Zune.
I agree with you. I have been a smart phone user for over 10 years and I knew that after using my wife's iPhone that I wanted one. I also knew that means I would have to get back under contract. I had been an Cingular user without a contract for over 7 years (coverage in my area was better from them then from the others). I only bought unlocked phones and paid the full price for them. I know that I am under a 2 year and went in to it with eye wide open. AND SO DID EVERYBODY ELSE.
Simply put it's your money and no one forced you to sign the contract.
Check who is paying their bills. They are only trying to do what has been done for a long time convince people that there needs to be more government money thrown at ISPs. We have seen these same stories going back years and years.

The report assumes no new investment in increasing capacity.
Whatever. Dumb Masses.
Corporate email monitoring systems do the same thing. If you have ever been part of a HIPAA security compliant organization then you know this is true.
Mexicans that work at drive-thru's that can't speak good english and get you order wrong.
Just because you don't understand their accent when they actually have learned more than one language doesn't mean anything
"In case you haven't guessed it yet, APRIL FOOLS!!! Seriously, if we get any real news about outages, deaths, or disruptions actually caused by Conficker today, you will read it here first."
It's time the law stops working for the RIAA's abusive tactics and start working to protect the people that do not have money from being unduly burdened with legal cost for nothing.
They have always had documents from Microsoft for Partners and IT on how to justify the upgrade or sell the upgrade. The difference this time is that no one wants Vista, so it is a harder sell. (This was written on a Vista based laptop that is now a lot slower than it was before I upgraded. I had to to learn Vista because I am a Partner and Sys Admin.) I would not have Vista on any of the four computers I have if I didn't need to for my job. Yes is ways upgrading to Vista is more secure, but so is not connecting your computer to the internet. Both are about as useful. Microsoft really screwed the pooch on this one.
I think this whole discussion should be irrelvant. All OS' are based on systems designed over twenty years ago by Technical people for technical people. Back then Technical people were the majority of computer users. Not anymore the average user really just does not care. They want to do there email, run their programs and not be bothered. And there needs to be an OS that does that. I have experience with Apple, Linux, several Unix flavors, DOS, and Windows going back over twenty years, and I don't think any one of the OS' allow the average user to just USE their computer.
The Beast in Redmond needs to be slain, but I don't think Linux should be the one to do it. Something new needs to be made.

They do this anyway whether or not you do watch the movies they make. Even when downloading the film actually help box office sales.

Make DRM breaking illegal only when there is criminal intent, such as to share reproductions with others or to sell bootlegs...
That would make too much sense!! Instead only legal owners of the DVDs are unable to do anything with them.
It's time the law stops working for the RIAA's abusive tactics and start working to protect the people that do not have money from being unduly burdened with legal cost for nothing.
It's not just size but also data transfer speed. Blu-ray has much better transfer speed at just 2x than flash drive in general have. And since you are expecting it to be as cheap as a blu-ray disc than that would mean using cheap flash memory. http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/data-transfer-run,1037-10.html http://www.blu-ray.com/faq/#bluray_speed
From personal experience I have purchased for client over 100 computer with Vista but preloaded with XP Pro.
