My thoughts exactly, why have a mobile phone, eReader, MP3 player,... Just so you can carry all of it around with you? Personally I prefer just 1 device that can ahndle all these functions!
It's abusing google's "I feel lucky" functionality to send you to some inappropriate site like goatse. I've no idea which one this is, and don't care to find out either...
I live in Europe, and we have had names for our streets since... Well, since the streets were placed there. And I can tell you that we're not hopelessly getting lost all the time. The human brain is quite capable of linking names to places...
Naming a street after someone is a great tribute to that person, and in my book Douglas Adams deserves to have more than 1 street named after him. 42 of them in fact!
It's that simple... If a company wants you to sign such an agreement, it says alot about the corporate culture of that company. It means management thinks it completely owns the people who work for them.
It could also mean some people have already left the company to work for competitors and they're trying to protect themselves from this happening again. That tells me it's probably not a nice place to work at, if people leave to go and do the exact same job somewhere else!
AFAIK the current line of operational UAV's aren't big enough to carry a human being. They are used on missions where regular manned airplanes would draw too much attention to themselves because of their size and the noize they make.
They are used in Afganistan for example to spy on Taliban camps in the mountains and to bomb them. They are not detected by them, unless they fly very close. A regular airplane is spotted from much further away, by the time it's close enough to take pictures / drop bombs they have already fled deep inside caves.
So, yes, UAV's do offer an advantage to manned aircraft. They can be made much smaller because they don't need to fit a human being inside them!
There is a big difference between the game format "war" and the movie format "war" according to me.
Blu-Ray and HD DVD basically offer the same thing, a way to watch movies.
The different ways of playing games however, offer different means of playing a game. Very different ways of controlling the game for example.
The different ways of playing games will attract different types of players, and different types of games will be made, some which can be ported to different devices, some that can't.
Blu-ray and HD DVD however offer no significant difference to the consumer, therefor one of the formats will go the way of the dodo, because it doesn't make sense for movie producers to have to produce different types of discs which basically do the same...
Microsoft is only prolonging this battle between the different formats, to enable more choice for the consumer!
Nope, I couldn't write that either with a straight face...
to test economic theories by manipulating the rules of the game
Have you thought this through? Whenever a regular MMO changes it's rules, an almost instant flamewar commences and many people leave the game.
If you want people to play your game, and keep playing your game, you will not be able to simply change the rules to test some theory of yours concerning economics... No, you'll have to be busy keeping people interested, and not randomly changing the rules is one aspect of that!
It's a great idea, I give you that, but it's simply not feasible for real...
The smallest creatures on this planet offer some of the most interesting behavioral patterns to study. I've always been fascinated with bees, ants,... The solutions that nature has come up with for what appear to be impossible tasks are simply astounding!
The problem is that the RIAA would attribute the decrease in sales to piracy, not to the fact that people stop buying the music because they are against the RIAA's tactics.
I haven't bought any of the big labels' music in a long time, nor have I downloaded it. The rare occasion that I listen to the radio (usually in someone else's car), I realize I haven't missed much...
I wonder how much percentage of the drop in record sales is due to people who simply stop listening to the music these record companies produce. The RIAA is always shouting that it's because of piracy, but how much is due to other reasons? I doubt they've done any research about that.
I'm not an American, but because the US is so influential in the world these elections are also important and interesting to me. This will have an indirect result on my life as well.
On the subject of online privacy, anything the US government decides on this matter will certainly affect me. Many sites (like Slashdot) that I visit are created and hosted in the US.
If the US decides to invade my privacy when visiting these sites, I will stay away from them. I have already decided to no longer visit the US, as long as it means having my fingerprints taken and such. I am not a criminal and I don't wish to be treated as one! I hope the US citizens (or at least enough of them) realize they are alienating themselves from the rest of the world. And that isn't in the best interest for any of us!
What scares me is if someone would say, "he shouldn't kill himself" he just might do the opposite. Who the fuck takes legal advice by doing the opposite of what some groklaw website comments say. There should be some sort of Darwin award for this.
If he kills himself because of a "he shouldn't kill himself" comment, he could win the actual Darwin award!
No, I'm sure George will find new and exciting ways of continuing the "saga". Anyway, he can do whatever he wants, I'm done with it!
Uh, how about meeting your friends at a *real* place?
This one they didn't notice until after it nearly missed earth.
So to answer your question: Yes, it's very possible!

Damn, what a load of crap...
Any invention can be turned to evil, we should just stop inventing stuff because it can always be perverted by someone!
Excuse me now, I have to go to kitchen and get rid of all my knives 'cause they could be used to stab me...
DRM ? Don't buy it!
Non-compete? Don't sign it!

No privacy on a social networking website? I am shocked!
</sarcasm>
What? No, but this means that I[NO CARRIER]

Canadians probably saw the DMCA laws in the US, and thought "Pfff, we can do better than that!".
Note to Canadians: It's NOT a good idea to try to beat the US on everything!

They expect a huge increase in demand for trains once they start shipping people to the death^H^H^H^H^Hre-education camps.
The UK is even going as far as open sourcing their data!
