Have you tried the Sony Experia Play? Being an owner, I can say it's not there yet... but I would really be disappointed if some sort of incarnation of this would leave the market. Being an avid emulator maniac you can't believe how much geek love this gives to ones inner self. To know you can escape at any time, way more comfortable then any touch only input ever could achieve is bliss. There is still a lot of non support for the nipple rings (replacements for dual analog.) but once its done right, like say in Age of Zombies, it can even give you some new thrills.

Addressing the larger point, it's hard to argue against wanting to maintain control over one's personal information. Very hard.

Having your age revealed is the least you'll be giving up if you want to become famous. If your selling your face you shouldn't get upset when people want to know it like they own it. It's like saying it be wonderful to be a soldier except for when your in war. It sucks, but it comes with the job. I would love it if everyone could do what they wanted without repercussions but perhaps thankfully life isn't like that.

From their website, and no it doesnt do mp3.:

Sure, the latest "iTouchy" gadgets are pretty cool. But who wants a locked down device? Why not build your own touch-screen device, with your own apps, all on open source hardware and using open source tools? OK, it can't play MP3s, but it does have a 320x240 TFT color display with resistive touch screen, an Atmega32u4 8-bit microcontroller, lithium polymer battery charger, backlight control, micro-SD slot, and a triple-axis accelerometer. Yeah, this is the next big thing and for those of us who like to DIY, you can do a lot of cool stuff with this dev board.
