I have indeed enabled the Pre-Release features. This could be the reason I had the Beta logo, I would not know. However the beta logo is no more, and I still have that feature enabled. Also I noticed after the logo is gone, you have the option to enable the Beta Logo again, I guess for those who miss the Beta logo.

Not sure about the free edition, and not sure when this was enabled. I noticed a new link on top called Lab, in there are a bunch of Tweaks where you can enable different features. One of them is to have a widget with your calendar, another one I really like is that you can change the placement of how many unread messages you have, so instead of domain.com.Main - Inbox (20) - user@domain.com" you get "Inbox (20) - user@domain.com - domain.comMail., this way you can see how many mail you have on a firefox tab, very handy. I just noticed today that they also added the option to re-enable the Beta logo, funny, for people who miss the Beta logo i guess. :-)

On a serious note; how conscious are you when you talk? Do you consciously trigger all required muscle movement or does you brain queue a "say 'word'" command which is then processed unconsciously? Probably neither, but the latter is likely closer to reality. There is actually VERY little that we do consciously. So we have a couple of options, we evolve into a state where our brain can consciously process every single action in a parallel fascion. This will probably take some generations but if we train hard on it, we might succeed. Then we use this new ability when programming. Or, we continue applying the way our brain works today think today, and build a compiler/programming language that can take our current way of thinking and apply all the stuff behind automaticaly, we think we want to say "hello", our Brain process this, and turns it into various face muscels, lung contractions, Vocal band stretching, etc... Or Women will be the majority of future programmers, everyone knows that Women are better at multitasking than Men, it's an evolutionary thing(Kids screameing / Food cooking / Dorbell ringning / Talking on the Telephone, and all at once). :-)

Probably true, but a survey is a survey. For me personally I am currently shopping for a new laptop. I already have a DELL desktop that runs Linux fine, well at least after i swapped the ATI card to an Nvidia card. In my looking for a new Laptop that can run Linux, my own findings are Pure Intel hardware, or Intel with Nvidia, then you are pretty safe that it will work. I installed a firends Laptop with Kubuntu, and everything worked on first install I did not have to do any tweaking, even with Beryl. So I checked what hardware and it was Intel with Intel Graphics. But if Dell does not take too long, I will probably buy it with them, even though I seen a very nice Toshiba, but with Linux support, Dell is my choice.

  17. Recovery CD+Diagnostics, and no software support. on Why Dell Won't Offer Linux On Its PCs · · Score: 1

Pretty much every time I called DELL with a problem they told me to Recover the PC. So I don't see the problem with having Linux on it. There are 2 options. 1, They sell a PC with a linux dist installed that has hardware support for what you are running, with this you will get 2 CD/DVD's 1 Recovery, and 1 Diagnostics. Dell then provides support for the hardware but not for the software, if you call with a problem, they will tell you to boot the diagnostics, and if it comes clean, no further support. 2. You will need a support staff that has a lot more geeks in them, who knows the ins and outs of the Dist of linux you sold with the PC. I worked in Callcenter, and well I was one of the few who actually had both Tech skills and spoke some languages, most where hired because they spoke a language, then trained to follow a script. I think Dell will go for option 1, otherwise it is to expensive to sell a PC with Linux.
