Why don't we just scrape some eggs into a beaker and then spray them with semen? Why do we have to go through some roundabout route to get the exact same thing. Sure the pro-lifers will say "Oh, you just killed a baby!", but think about it... We are trying to make stem cells identical to these cells. If we do get there, wouldn't those created cells have the same potential for life as the cells in the egg/semen beaker, but with MUCH MUCH more expense? It seems a little crazy to me.

As someone who has played with software based labs, it doesn't compare to the real thing. It's one thing to click on two test tubes and have a thrid change color, but it entirely different to see the color change in real life as you add the reagents.

Science used to be cool because it was exciting. Small explosions, corrosive chemicals, and chemical reactions are cool, clicking some buttons on a computer program to simulate this is lame. If you want kids to like science, it needs to be (somewhat) dangerous. Schools should be encouraging thinking (ie. fire is hot so don't burn yourself, don't drink/touch hydrochloric acid, etc). If a few kids get hurt, well, hopefully they at least learned something, even if that something is that science can be dangerous.

Canada is a great country. We have lots of space, natural resources, and clean water. We have lots of land to work and play in. We have a banking system that didn't need massive bailouts. We are the number one supplier of Oil to the US, and supplied Uranium to create the first Atomic bomb. We are an energy superpower and the USA is addicted to our oil. Canada is only getting more powerful.

You are correct though that Canada is not a great contry, it is the greatest country in the world. Canada is safe, beautiful, clean, and rich.

Do you really think that perconal income tax will have any affect on the hiring practices of a corporate entity? There is a think called corporate tax, and that is seperate from personal tax. Just because Steve is paying less taxes to the man, do you think that he will pay his gardener more? His maid? Mistress? I doubt it. In any case, I imagine that money will be funneled to offshore accounts which will provide no stimulus, but also no tax revenue either. The only stimulus outcome I see here is $100,000 to the lobbyists.

The closer satellites orbit with much shorter period, so they might only have to run on battery power for an hour or less.
