If you turn the app in with hopes of promotion, the only way you will be properly compensated for your work is if you make it during your on-the-clock hours.
You mentioned you have lots of downtime at work - start calculating how much downtime you have. Play lots of Angry Birds and stuff. When the amount of downtime equals the amount of time spent making the app, hand it to them and say "This is what I've been making when I wasn't busy."
So what about the ubiquitous 'snowflake' wraps out there? Or the colored plaid ones? Or the ones with candles on them?
Does blue and white mean Jewish, even if it's a Swedish flag? Does green and red mean Christmas even if it's on a chili pepper? Candles must mean a menorah right?
If I want them to wrap it in plain brown paper, are they going to assume I'm a Buddhist?
Excellent observation. I haven't used GoDaddy's DNS for a long time but I use their hosting because - whatever, it's cheap, I'm lazy, and I don't need any advanced control features. Put File Online -> Link to File -> Done.
The business server is CoLocated and uses CPanel. I'll stick to that for REAL web work.
353,000 tons traveling at 650 miles per second creates enormous air resistance - this will heat the reindeer up in the same fashion as spacecraft re-entering the earth's atmosphere.
It's a good thing he got that new pet conditioner. "Protects from heat, drying, and daily damage"!
It would appear that the only magic here is the disappearing funding for his department because they spend their government- and taxpayer-funded time doing stupid stuff like this.
Really? Because we're not in armed conflicts all over the globe and our space travel initiatives aren't completely fucked? Come on guys, serious problems - serious response. Let's dig ourselves out of this intellectual hole we've fallen in and get back to being pioneers of... well, anything but 100% outsourced capitalism.
Get a phone with a keyboard, like any of the Droid series.
I don't use it all the time, but it makes texting and emailing coherently a hell of a lot easier, and gives me tons of controls for emulators and games.
Considering the vast scope of different kinds of 'professional games', there is no set amount of time any game will take to construct. This isn't a 9-5 crew of professional game developers, it's a trickle of interested parties in their free time.
If a dedicated team of professional game developers puts their heads together and spends a decent amount of time, good quality 'professional' games could be churned out as quickly as every few months.
With the last game I worked on with a small team full-time we were able to surpass Quake's graphics/engine within about three months. Many game studios also use the huge pre-made physics/graphics/sound engines which will cut back moderately on actual development time. Something hugely art-intensive, like the Uncharted series, would probably take longer. In these cases it is often waiting on assets like models, sounds, textures, or gameplay decisions from the designers.
Which imaginary developers are these that thing the hassle and expense of XCode and iOS programming is better than the free one-file setup of Eclipse and Android programming?
A car manufacturer rails for a couple decades against the use of certain lithium batteries for its negative eco-impact. Car manufacturer is found to be using those batteries in their cars, and their cars to produce more eco-damage than the batteries. Car manufacturer says "See, the battery's not so big of a deal. There are more important considerations for a car."
Basically, they reversed completely their opinion on prosecuting based on IP. That is their primary means of going after 'criminal' P2P sharers. I wish this had come out as "We're sorry, we realized we messed up, we're not going to use IP as prosecution material anymore."
having created the fantasy role-playing franchise Ultima
Sorry, that's not much of a credential. That game has been nearly derelict for the better part of a decade.
As for the console's fate, I really like being able to go home and just hit the remote to play my latest favorite. No booting a PC, no software load times, no need for Anti-Virus or bloatware overhead. Just plug and play.
It's also nice to have something that is dedicated hardware for gaming, with pretty great specs. I don't know about the slashdot crew, but I don't think many people's home computer had a triple-core 3GHz processor with a serious graphics card when the 360 came out. It IS getting on time for a new version, though, as the general PC specs catch up.
I am curious when we're going to see the story "All corporations in North America now owned by Exxon-Mobil-Time Warner-Comcast-Microsoft-Clear Channel-AT&T-Verizon-Bank of America". It's inevitable if someone doesn't stop the rampant "I'll just buy my competition" strategy.
It's not like the US is taking down foreign sites. They are taking down sites hosted in the US, which are therefore covered under US anti-piracy laws.
It sucks (I believe everything digital should be free) but it's how the government works these days. No regard for due process - just slam the door wherever they see fit.

You should read a C tutorial. It's akin to realizing "Wow, it's like BASIC but it makes more sense, and I can DO more!"
You can also program PICs with it. Check this out.
Rastafarian? I know some Rastas and they LOVE their green...

What complete and utter nonsense and tripe.
I find HostGator.com has similar pricing, though for all I know they support SOPA too.
I'm about sick of GoDaddy even without their support for this nonsense. How much spam can one company send?
I opted out of everything, now kindly f©k off.

It takes a lot to light marble and granite on fire.

I wonder if this would provide protection against an EMP attack.
That is an intriguing and useful prospect. I would also be curious to know this.

If it takes you 20 minutes to download an app from Android's market you're doing it wrong.

Seriously? Lithuania? How did THAT happen?
To capitalize on these minor differences in transfer, I am now billing for my computer consulting company by the millisecond.
I think a better analogy would be:
A car manufacturer rails for a couple decades against the use of certain lithium batteries for its negative eco-impact.
Car manufacturer is found to be using those batteries in their cars, and their cars to produce more eco-damage than the batteries.
Car manufacturer says "See, the battery's not so big of a deal. There are more important considerations for a car."

Is it wrong that I actually enjoy browsing with Lynx? It's like the internet equivalent of listening to a crystal radio.
Hi. We have no records on you.
This means you are using a private torrent tracker or, of course, you may not be a torrent user at all!
I torrent a ton. On that IP. I don't use private trackers. I am even seeding now.
Their detection method is clearly terrible.
I thought the headline said "NSA May Send Lenders to Europe in 2020"...
I was wondering why they were going to wait so long.

How do I get one of these run into my apartment?
Google "UN Internal Use Only" and "UN Confidential" and you will probably find at least a few documents that you shouldn't.
