Linspire will make Microsoft's search engine the default search on PCs shipped with their OS. So that'll increase MS's total by 10 units? Why even make this deal?
Until telcos can/will guarantee fiber to your door, I can't understand why everyone gets all excited about "Internet2" reaching new speed records. Anyone know what the first file sent across it was? I'd imagine either pics of Xena or a Stargate: Atlantis episode.
Yeah, Macs are still clearly identified as "PCs," even though Apple uses the term "PC" in their ads to define the competitor. Nobody has used the term "PC" to identify a Mac in the past 15 years. Dumbass.
They don't firmly commit to anything, but merely spend a certain amount of time chasing whichever particular ambulance they think is hot with their customer base at a given moment. When the wind changes, they go off in a different direction.
Yes. God forbid a company attempt to shift their position relative to the climate in the marketplace, and throw their weight where they may see the most profit. It's called capitalism.
Australia's telco(s) must be vastly more responsive than Verizon. To even get a DSL line up and running within 60 days here would be amazing - a DS3+ typically takes 4-5 months, minimum.
IPv6 adoption is going to be heavily stunted by this inadequacy if it isn't fixed pretty pronto IPv6 hasn't been adopted en masse for years. Why would the release of Vista suddenly give reason for people to switch? There's clearly been resistance to the switch, and Vista has absolutely nothing to do with it.
If someone's a Senior VP or Senior Director of Nintendo, then chances are good that they have already made enough money to be able to live off returns from investments. Also, many of them probably have families and kids... if you're asking this question, your family likely never moved when you were a child.
Unless Nintendo is planning on creating new VC offerings (or find ballsy enough third party developers to join them), at a certain point, they'll run out of titles to put on there. How many AAA titles (that they have the rights to) are really left from NES/SNES/N64? I'd have to think that the majority of these buys are for Mario or Zelda properties, and they've put almost all of those onto the VC already.
It was forced on me. Nothing was forced on you. You purchased the package that came with Vista pre-installed. If you're posting on slashdot, I'd imagine you know a thing or two about computers.. and you also likely know that it's often cheaper to get a 3rd party to build a computer to your specs, with the OS that you want. Of course.. assume = ass you me, yadda yadda.
Read up on Occam's Razor and then please tell me which is more likely: that someone at the RNC screwed up and sent them to a left-wing blog site, or that the left-wing blog site is busy fabricating emails and "news."
Exactly, and that's why this sounds fake. What's more likely, that an uber-liberal group is lying in order to demonize Karl Rove even further, or that someone mistakenly sent emails from the RNC to an "enemy" group?
People who are currently trying to download through the Crackdown tie-in are experiencing a "short delay," according to a message posted on Bungie's website. It was supposed to go live at 8 AM EST - I'm curious as to how many servers crashed & burned.
there's very very little prospect of significant financial gain
In New York & New Jersey, a Masters Degree equates to a teaching salary of approx. $55k-60k a year. Unions have negotiated this. Given that the schools will pay for the degree, many teachers either get it online or at night.
I hate to break it to you, but $55,000 a year is well over the national salary average.
School tax is lumped into our property taxes here in New Jersey. Due to the broken state pension system (of which teachers are a part), and the constant haggling by the teachers unions, they're among the highest in the nation. I do know that they've certainly risen the most in the past 10 years.
The United States has almost 10 times the population of Canada. Pen & paper / hand counting is neither desirable nor reasonable.

There's a reason they're called Gaming PCs and not Gaming "Computers."

Look at who submitted it. This is clearly a stress test.

I thought you said NOT to cross the streams!
Everyone knows that the greatest file search / file manager program EVER was XtreeGold.
Their marketing dept. is on fire... After all of the PS3 debacles, they one-up themselves by announcing a MMO for *casual* gamers. Brilliant!
You're aware that neither of those titles have release dates, right?

Sounds like a whiny bitch to me. You instantly lose any credibility when you reference Neopets as how things "should be."

You forgot - you have to buy a house to have a socket to plug the system into - so there's an additional $300k right there. Tool.

That's irrelevant to the discussion at hand. If you're making $55-60k/yr, you are not "low paid" or without potential for financial gain.
