How many people, aside from the slashdot crowd, actually use POP3/SMTP clients anymore (at home, not work)? Isn't some ridiculous amount like 90% using gmail/hotmail/yahoo mail/aol mail/etc?
Despite that fact that every gamer site & mag likes to get all fud-tastic in regards to MMO taxes, let's use our brains for a second. The only time that a tax would be applicable would be if real-world money changes hands. Selling gold / items / characters for money? You'd get hit with a sales tax or have to report this as taxable income. It might "suxxors," but if you can make a living by gold farming, then I'd certainly expect you to have to pay your taxes, too.
McDonald's causes great hassle for Burger King as they refuse to release the recipe for the Big Mac's secret sauce. Sadly, this will only be available at McDonald's for the time being. There are no plans for cross-restaurant release.
If the primary concern is for unique visitor tallies for traffic-based advertising, wouldn't web sites be affected (mostly) across the board? If all web traffic is artificially inflated close to the same amount, then this becomes a non-issue.
I'm in no way defending Micro$oft's business practices, but for better or worse, this is how government works. Most industries and many Fortune 500 companies have lobbyists. To think that Micro$oft wouldn't try to protect their interests is absurd.
And I thought these guys were pricks when I provisioned ADSL/SDSL/IDSL circuits for a regional ISP back in the late 90's. I could've sworn they had an "excuse" rolodex for reasons that a line installation would get delayed again.
Regardless, farewell Vonage. It was nice knowing thee.
It's all about the "IT Guy Ego." I've seen this in various jobs in different sectors - it's pervasive throughout the IT field. It's part hubris and part attitude, really. The fact is, admitting that there is a system problem makes people think that they're admitting *they* made a mistake, and so they get on the defensive. "It must be a user issue / operational issue" seems to be the most common response.
Office Space summed it up best: "I'm a PEOPLE Person! Engineers don't know how to talk to people!"
Realize, even. Grammar police, set phasers to stun.
At what point are sites that take credit cards going to release they need to keep the CC/customer database offline?
How much of our income tax should actually be labelled "Bullshit Lawsuit Tax," to cover the government's legal fees for BS lawsuits?
I understand that. But, keeping it closed source and selling it to M$ = bigger profit.
Make a living. Sell your code to the highest bidder. Don't listen to those Open Source Hippies.
Shit. Thanks for making me feel more dumberer.
So, they're not stopping selling printers, they've just released a new line of contracted/leased service printers. Nice work.

Microsoft declares "Mission Accomplished."
is like a slashdot article without a swipe at MS. Occassionally entertaining, but clearly lacking.
Due to the overwhelming piracy in China, whatever genuine # came out would seem pathetic. Anyone have the stats on "genuine" DVD sales in China?
It was called the "Big King". Had like a million fucking pickles on it. The Angus is vastly superior, anyways.

Pink iBooks.
Unless they charge out the ass for this thing, I can't see how they'd be able to sell enough units to even cover the R&D costs.

2. Opinions are like assholes: Everyone has one, and they all stink.
