Hey, maybe The Company is teaming up with a variety of consumer goods makers to integrate micro-miniature, networked DNA collectors in toothbrushes, mattresses, hairbrushes, shoes, nail clippers, steering wheel manufacturers...
This public outing of Mossack Fonseca's pathetic computer security will have the unfortunate consequence of convincing the rest of the firms in that line of work to get more serious about their own. For those who want greater transparency in the world of tax havens this hack of Mossack Fonseca might be a wrench in the works.
They have no idea of what people are likely to get up to with their Oculus Rift product, and if somebody does something that puts the company into any sort of jam, down come the safety nets. That's what I'm seeing in that legal boilerplate.
I am bitching about the ratio of MS PR stories to Firehose submissions having been massively skewed in the last couple of days. I identified that the dev conference is the basic cause, so we agree on that point. THAT's my issue. It is annoying to me, so I bitch about it. I get modded down, I get up again.
Drink from the Firehose on a regular basis. It is good for seeing some otherwise-buried material. In the last 2 days of this MS PR onslaught there are quite a few interesting stories that got dumped. Too bad.
There are loads of MS stories on the web, but this suddenly massive quantity of MS stories here on Slashdot is getting in the way of some really interesting geek stories that are not being allowed through for whatever reason. If you love MS stories, there are sites that cater directly to that, but if you want an all-around great geekish-story site you might hopefully continue to get that here at Slashdot if some adjustments can be made by the editors. Further, if there is any sort of policy or agenda to greenlight each and every MS story I hope that honesty will prevail and the truth will be clearly spelled out. If there is no such thing, I hope it will be equally clarified.
Amidst all these MS stories is the single, underlying one: MS had a developers conference in which many Wizards of Oz performed their tricks, and many journalists excitedly published those single items, and many Slashdotters submitted them here. The PR onslaught continues, meanwhile a long list of genuinely interesting stories submitted by well-meaning members fall by the wayside.

In an ideal world all the mini-stories would get summarized and synthesized into one big master story, but that's not how Slashdot operates.
I knew James Madison. I worked with James Madison. James Madison was a friend of mine. Believe me when I tell you, James Madison envisioned encrypted electronic devices back then and argued extensively for protection from government decryption of private devices.
This is the result of there being a big Microsoft developer conference going on. As the magicians on stage perform each trick, the press gushes over it, again and again. Submitters here at/. can't stop themselves from sending in each one of them separately, it seems.
And you can get second hand Polycom conference room phones for dirt cheap too if you're on a tight budget. I don't see how/why anyone would authorize an expenditure for this very costly Microsoft product that offers nothing particularly new.
Canadians, by and large, do not use bumper stickers (its some sort of deeply ingrained politeness thing) so CSIS and the other five-eyes organizations have to work much harder than bumper scanning. For those of you thinking of moving north in the event of a Trump presidential win, peel off all those stickers first so that you blend in much easier out on the road.
The Pimp-Boy, a personal computing device strapped to the character's wrist, allows the player to access a menu with statistics, anatomical charts, gynecological data, player health, and remaining ammo load. Don't use Pornhub VR without it!
Please don't lump in F-Droid with all the calls to avoid 3rd party app stores.
Perhaps they want to create a disabling strain of acne to take out script kiddies everywhere, once and for all.
I thought it was about the Isle Of Lucy.

You mean like "I'm sorry, I can't do that because Hitler didn't do anything wrong"...
Driver: "Okay car, phone home."
Toyota/MS Connected Voice: "I phone home hundreds of times per second. Is that what you meant?"
Driver: "No, I need to talk to my wife. Phone home."
T/MS: "Dialing Microsoft Support..."
Driver: "No, Car, stop! NO NO NO, I mean stop calling, not stop the car in this busy lane!!!"
T/MS: "Hitler did nothing wrong."

What is Xamarin? Why should I care about it?
The Slashdot interface contains a search tool. Try the term "Xamarin" in it. :)

As an AC said earlier, up above: "CyanogenMod creates the base OS, what Cyanogen and ATT do with it beyond that is out of CyanogenMod's hands."
With their utter failure to have any meaningful presence in the mobile phone world, Microsoft is using Cyanogen to infiltrate:

They honestly did not foresee that someone would track a sudden spike of winning ticket activity to their locations?

CCTV, aka China Central Television, traced to the Chinese.
Realty?
I would stay away from Chinese realty. Costa Rica might be better.
