And this is what is most likely to happen. I would say that open sourcing this project (like a commenter above stated) would be the best idea.
It would be NASA's best interest especially for good publicity, because right now it seems downhill...They want a free game to slap their name on?
Do they honestly think a "for profit" company that provides it will actually keep the original reason for creation in mind? Seeing how said company is technically not contracted or restricted to keep the game from having (or 6 months later putting in) "murder" and other popular video game themes in?
It doesn't even matter, this looks even easier than a regular captcha;
Test 1: I literally clicked in the middle of the "image" (whatever geometric was supposed to mean in context. I didn't know if I had to click the center of an image, or center of the subject in the image). Which was laid out in a nice 3x2 grid, meaning halfway over, and quarter way down = jackpot.
Test 2: The site was slashdotted, so I couldn't see the image, but I could see the options. 15 options. That's a 1/15 chance, so the basis is going off of adding more options to make this harder for a computer. Decent thought, but 1/15 chance of a computer being successful regardless of the image AND knowing your subscribers have to read 15 words to find the answer.
No offense to the guy, but this seemed easier than a captcha requiring an OCR. To be honest, the cute captcha"/kittenAuth was still the best idea(s) I've seen, cause it's based on human opinion opposed to an "absolute" answer.
If a stranger came up to you in the street and offered you a seemingly great deal on a new product, asked for your credit card details and promised to drop it round next week, would you give them to him?
If you would, I have a great product that you are going to love. Just post your credit card details here - I'll keep them secure - and I'll post it to you next week. No thanks, I'll stick to the strangers in the streets, they seem to be multitudes more reliable than you. Not to mention more local.
Dumb Laws in Illinois:
You may be arrested for vagrancy if you do not have at least one dollar bill on your person.
You must contact the police before entering the city in an automobile.
The English language is not to be spoken.
From TFA:
Led by Tao Ran, a military researcher who built his career by treating heroin addicts, the clinic uses a tough-love approach that includes counseling, military discipline, drugs, hypnosis and mild electric shocks.
Yea... cause we all know the cure sounds far better than the cancer
in some situations, such as here where the victims of this vigilante ONLY got targetted by seeking child porn in the first place, you have given up your right to privacy. because by seeking child porn, you have engaged in a crime that is much larger than the violation of your privacy
So when your 11 year old son or daughter decides to download something out of curiousity, you take the responsibility and take your jail time with you. Yes its arguable that you should be watching your children more. BUT very few CAN watch (try working 40-50 hours a week, babysitter? some can't afford it, + countless other reasons you can't watch a child 24/7), and as popular as internet is nowadays, it is considered a necessity for communication, entertainment, AND education.
Try as you might, you can't moderate everything in your child's life. Some things they need to find out for themselves, unless you are one of those vulture of a parents who don't allow your child to think/learn/act by themselves giving them no privacy or space, and if thats the case, I pity your child's social and emotional life...
So... you're saying that the invasion of privacy is worth the 8 year old girl
So... by this standard, its okay for anyone to look through anyones computer for illegal content... hmm, so you never downloaded an mp3 ONCE?! Or is it just "for the children", illegal is illegal, no matter what, "it is human to err" and go astray from the path, its called being HUMAN. Creative, original, adventurous into unknown areas, thoughts, and ideas. It's what invented the wheel and fire.
Isn't it all too obvious by now? We ALREADY live in a police state, which WE built, and it will last FOREVER.
Think of it this way, americans left england to avoid taxation (on tea), only to create a country where everything is taxed anyways (sales tax, even on tea). We have created what we hated.
Now, think of modern day, where we are ruled by fear in our everyday lives. Back in the day the fear was simple, no physical pain. Nowadays we are run by different types of fear. Take for example, fear of expression. No longer can you go to a place where you are allowed to say whatever you want, without some sort of retaliation. In a work environment, people are afraid of saying anything that involves an opinon for FEAR of losing their job. WE have created this fear onto others because we no longer know how to tolerate others behaviors, EVEN if they are jokes. In a country where we are afraid of saying a joke, something meant to brighten people's lives, we've become afraid to do something as simple as that. Just constant outcries of "I'm offended, thats not nice" running rampant to the point where WE the people have taken OUR OWN FREEDOM OF SPEECH.
Now, onto the right of privacy. Sure people argue and cry about how invasion of privacy is wrong, but what is being done, and what can be done? NOTHING. Sure, lets speak of "revolution", oh wait. NO, thats considered conspiracy, and you can easily disappear without anyone even knowing nowadays (disappear from work? "wheres bob" oh he was fired, meh oh well) friends and family will have the only suspicion, and what can they do? Report it to the police thats OWNED by the GOVERNMENT. Any signs of a revolution will be squashed, because lets face it, governments already know more about our privacy than they EVER knew back in the day, and this effect is IRREVERSIBLE.
It is our own fault, and it's already too late. Talk about revolution as much as you like, but now we live in a day where we are even fearful of physical pain, and have equal fears of nonphysical pain and punishments.
How we've "evolved" from fearing physical to psychological pain, is a wonderful question, but seriously, who's going to step up and "lead" a country to war before they finish stripping all privacy? Perhaps it's already been attempted many times already? Anything that becomes slightly popular, the government will know, and will be all over it and ready to make it disappear.
WE have created our own cages, where will you be running to when they install cameras in every home? How fearful are you, can you stand up for what you believe in? "Anonymous Cowards" (practically everyone on the internet is 'Anonymous' from a technical sense), unite as you like and talk about revolution. Best of luck

Yea... interesting how the age is at a rounded number like 42 as if not to grandfather anyone in...
And how many congress members are below the age of 42 again???
*starts singing* You have 10 million keys... and all you need is a knife... Just a little bit ironic....
