  1. Re:If that is true on How Water Forms in Interstellar Space at 10K · · Score: 0
I didn't realize slashdot would turn into a debate on religion vs science, but I'm game:

The only problem is that you get to make that choice only once, here on earth, with imperfect knowledge Do you know god? How can I make a choice about someone I do not know. That's almost like picking a future spouse based on what you've been told by someone who met him/her.

If it turns out there's no God, you've lived a good life, the people around you will thank you for it, and you can go to dust in peace. If there is a God, you'll end up in heaven instead of the other place. So you are saying, pretend to believe in God for a win win solution.

No offense to religious people, but I don't think god created us just to worship him every Saturday (or however you are told). Just like how you don't create your child to worship/idolize you every weekend otherwise they don't get to go to "heaven"/"hell" (disneyland, etc. whatever) when they finish growing up.

There might be a God, but religion takes things too far. I would love to discuss religion, but people tend to get shorted out too quickly, but if you wish to discuss further drop me a line.

Technically google would only show a link, and chances are it won't be #1 (meaning no redirection even via "I'm feeling lucky").

To be honest, I for one PREFER this type of information, knowing all competition before making my choice.

Last week I was looking for an SQL solution, and typing in some of the more "famous" names led me to a better solution (free) that wasn't the one I originally searched for.

This is what search engines are for, displaying information related to a query, it shouldn't say "this is a competitor, I can't show you this".

Despite going against the flow of karma. I agree

This morning while walking in to work, I saw a parent smoking around her (5-7? yr old?) child while holding the child's hand (so, right next to it).

That's right, how often she does this I do not know, but think about it. How much worse is smoking around a child than touching a child? It's normal for parents to touch their children in certain areas while bathing them, but the second the parent somehow gets a "joy" out of it, its criminal.

Yet, comparing the two offenses (hell looking a child and getting a "joy" out of it is criminal in itself nowadays) which hurts the child more?

I'm not against smoking, and I'm not for child abuse/ponography, but I AM for EQUALITY, therefor I am only making an observation to an equation for you to solve.
