the Republicans gained three more senate seats so replacing RPG will be even easier and almost ensures they will maintain control of the Senate even through the next election cycle.

Maybe two, maybe three. One is at a runoff. But the Democrats won the majority of seats up for grabs this year. Keep in mind, they had half their Senate seats up for election, the republicans only had 25%. And, in 2020 it's reversed. Esp. since Collins and a lot of other moderate Republicans are up. I imagine a democratic senate is likely to show up.

Now, you're right about RBG's replacement, if that happens. But it doesn't seem to matter. They already put whomever on the court.

You also don't seem to understand that the whole House stands for election, so the margin this year doesn't really matter for next year. But, the home of Nixon and Reagan went blue for the first time in a century.

While the Senate and Trump do what they like

You mean, aside from pass laws. Yeah, they can fuck up the judiciary, but other than that they're pretty unable to effect change.

Trump just isn't a stunning genius. His skill is media manipulation and flooding the zone. And yes, Dems shouldn't swing at this. It's not important.

I assume you're talking about the whole "gender" definition thing? Cause there were a lot of poeple explaining why it was dumb. For instance, a good percentage of people (1/200) are born with two sets of genitals. The percent of people who present normally but not just an XX or XY genome is higher than that. When you're talking about the government messing up 4.5 million people's lives, it matters. Esp. since there is no benefit.

And note, that's all pure biology. If you factor in transgender people (and I personally think you should), it gets more ridiculous. But you don't have to.

TL;DR the dictionary is usually a bad source for detailed information. Heck, even laws tend to use words in ways differently than the dictionary.

  3. Nevermind that the email record laws were not new for Hillary. Her staff admitted the previous Secretary of State told her to use a personal server to specifically get around that "onerous" reporting.

You completely misunderstand. The new rule was that you could not use a personal server to get around the reporting. Both of Hillary's predecessors did so. So, they changed the rules and she didn't comply with the new version.

That Windows 2000 server was one long forgotten and no longer used

Care to point to a link, cause I never heard this before.

The "pinging" from Russia was not much more than that.

There was the bank pinging. But, IIRC, both the Russians and the Chinese have a lot more traffic going on.

Or, if you read the article, that's what this is about. I don't give a shit about Hillary's emails. What Ivanka did is wrong and she should be punished.

The fact is that the email retention rules only really started applying at the beginning of the Obama administration*, so it's possible that Hillary made a mistake. There is no possibility Ivanka didn't know this was against the rules. To say nothing about how I expect more computer literacy from a 36 year old than a 70 year old.

But, yeah, fuck both of their private email systems.

  13. ow is using the Trump Organization's server any better than using one in her own home or office?

IIRC, during the campaign it came out that the Trump Org. server was a Win 2000 box. (Democrats argued that's how it was obvious they were the ones targeted, cause Trump's would have been trivial to hack.) Further, there is pretty ample evidence that both China and Russia have been pinging machines in Trump Tower at least since he announced.

So, it's probably far less secure, and probably already compromised.

There's also the factor that the record laws about email were at least new when Hiliary was SOS; Ivanka had a year and half lesson on it from her dad and every newspaper.
