    hell, global warming. isn't that that piece of crap those european scientists promote just to anger and disgruntle the whole hummer-driving-air-conditioning-the-whole-place-am erican-folks? yeah, that's FUD at it's best. actually it's all about selling more european, pseudo-eco-friendly products in the states, to ruin the american markets and thus stopping the war against terrorism by an act of countercultural inner corrosion.

    sorry, their MAIN problem is not in any way a dysfunctional backup system. ever heard of verifying backuped data?

    ...infrared won't reveal any details of a face. but those cameras are not the only surveillance system: take time cards or any other time recording techonlogy and combine it with the infrared data and you got a good chance of identifying some of your workers. and if you do not work in a cube farm, the infrared cameras will deliver enough information to do some profiling.

    IMHO a simple motion detector could do the same, so why infrared? it just delivers data, which should not be available to those maintaining the system. simple motion detection would at least be more anonymous.

    ...i don't need some flashy looking online-banking. i just want to transfer money from account a to account b, wonder, where my money has gone, etc. sometimes this little sentence just makes sense:

    keep it simple. for such ordinary tasks there does not have to be great interaction schemes or whatever comes to your mind. it just has to freaking work. and - it's even more secure the simple way? well, then don't tamper with it.

    i guess an automated website-sue-tool would be handy at these times and i could even make some bucks of it. just enter the URL and the sue-o-mat[tm] will look up the entries at the appropriate NIC, fill out all required forms and send the completely autogenerated charge to your local court. man, that would save time for a lot of folks.

    and - actually - (without the article) i'm still looking for a correlation between the headline and the abstract.
    one step further: beryl is buggy? please - take a look at the version-number. included in ubuntu is 0.2 (NULLDOTTWO): this is a mere testing release, not a final and stable. and: it's not enabled in ubuntu by default.

    to sum it up: nothing to see here, please move along.

    those who actually ARE interested in the world's affairs get an easier method to feed their information hunger.

    but i really don't believe that anoybody, who wouldn't watch news channels and use - maybe even international - websites to stay up-to-date with what's happening, will just because of a new possibility start to be interested. you can even find some informational stuff on youtube, but as long you are not interested in this kind of things, you'll still type in "boobs" instead of "global warming".

    ...why didn't the industry use the thousands of bucks to develop a replacement instead of burning it for ads and bribing? i'm sure you can add a few more thousands to the sum which were spent "inofficially". okay, developing new materials might cost just a few dollars more, but you would have

    a) a stable income based on these new materials
    b) eventually something like good media and following that --> a slightly better reputation.

    okay, this is far too logical.

    a) how could i know that they tested a 2001 version of xp initially, if i had not read the article? pure logic
    b) TFA: 'As far as straight-out-of-box conditions go, both Microsoft's Windows and Apple's OS X are ripe with remotely accessible vulnerabilities' vs. 'The OSes were not compared with others'.

    you are now free to choose which of the presented possibilities do embarass you less and go for that one.

    oh my, there are enough flaws in M$-soft, you don't have to fake statistics. that's all i'm nagging about: it's statistical nonsense to compare two products that were released more than a half decade apart and test them in there original shipped condition. that's kind of "fuddish", even though normally this is M$' domain. compare them in their shipped-by-now condition and all is fine...
