The idea that the CRA caused this mess has been debunked repeatedly by every study done on the subject. If you want some real sources on this, I'd suggest studies put out by a university, the Federal Reserve, or the US Treasury Department.

BFG == killall; good idea! Even though I have never really used killall, so I'd have to experiment with it...
Actually, one of the ideas I wanted to implement in psDooM was different signals for different weapons. But you know, Real Life and going back to school tend to stop 'fun' projects like psDooM.:-( Maybe someday....
I think I remember reading in the forward to LH that they *were* going to write about an invasion with the attackers bombarding us with asteroids (Footfall), but N&P were so taken by the idea of asteroid (or comet) impact, that they wrote LH instead.
I guess that explains some of the scene/character similarities.
They have mandatory inspections of vehicles every year (or every 2 in some cases). Safety tests and emissions tests. Rust-through definately doesn't pass. Emissions must meet standards. Don't know about how closely they look at tires, but they would probably fail a car for those, too.
As for poor drivers, well, I can tell you that they haven't solved that problem yet.
Today, my 1986 Buick is being towed to the junkyard.
It has 177000 or so miles on it, the ceiling fabric is gone, the passenger door doesn't open from the inside, the AC and cruise are shot, as is the rear defrost. One door had a rusted-through hole (which I Bondo'd), and the rest of the body isn't in that great of shape either.
But that's not why I'm junking it. The engine fell out.
OK, not all the way out, but rust took out a support or 2 on the passenger side and the engine dropped, breaking some connection in the cooling system, draining the antifreeze. Definately not worth repairing.
1. More team-based games. How cool would it be to be in a humvee, one guy driving, another at the machine gun, perhaps trying to destroy a tank with 6 guys in it, each doing the job of whatever those 6 guys do in a real tank. Or, *drool*, how about one guy flying the millenium falcon, and two others at each gun, like in the movie? Or any other jet or spaceship, for that matter.
I had a C64 fighter jet game (called Ace, I believe) that would let one person fly and another gun. Great fun.

Oh, yeah! _Those_ are impartial sources.
I personally like the Nebraska solution (house districts go to the candidate winning the district, senate votes go to overall winner in the state).
I like that, too. It seems to be the best compromise between 'popular vote only' and 'winner takes all' methods.

Funny, Google worked fine for me the last time Windows stopped working.
Of course, Google was loaded on my other PC running Firefox on Ubuntu...

At home, I don't have flash installed, and Fx still tends to gobble up memory.
Because of the Java plugin.
Maybe something's wrong with Fx's plugin architecture?
1) luser -- stands for 'list user'. It lists the name of a user locking a database resource.
2) litlp -- the screen says it stands for 'little interface to lp', but I know it's really 'luser interface to lp'.
Man, I've read way too many BOFH stories...

How do you get it to work?
All I get is some pretty XUL but no data.

Pardon my ignorance, but what metadata are you
talking about?
I'd like to know what exactly the problem is so I can
consider implications for psdoom.

No, no, no. You have to add the cinelerra *while* cooking the dish, not after!
Now I see why Clinton was splitting hairs with the meaning of 'sexual relations'.
And the meaning of the word 'is'.
It's the Lawyerly Thing To Do.
I got all bleary-eyed reading the part of the
Government's argument about "limited Times" and the
exact meaning of that phrase.
Geez.
Citizen, why haven't you installed the WhizBang4500X IP Protector Software?
Loyal, Happy Citizens installed it before it was released.
Only a Commie Mutant Traitor wouldn't install it.

Couldn't the (browser's) toolbars be similarily set up, so they could be rearrageable and floatable?
Then all I'd need would be:

Anyone have any luck doing so?

Yes, I know they released the source and there are ports out there. No, I haven't tried them.
