    Did I not just explain that? Perhaps I didnt make it clear enough - you get it for free when determining the filter graph. No extra CPU cycles are used in determining this. Not even one.

    In fact I would go as far to say that LESS cycles are used, because the number of codecs capable of handling the PVP pins is smaller. You heard it first retard, DRM is going to save CPU when building the graph.

    So it brings me back to my earlier question - how the fuck does any OS decide what sequence of filters to use to render media without burning CPU and how does the avaliability of extra codecs increase this?

    In conclusion, please get out your damn basement, put down the "teach yourself BASIC in 24 years" book, and learn some basic data structures and algorithms, and how they are applied. Then go fuck yourself, you stupid, stupid, stupid cunt. If you reply with another misguided and uninformed post I swear I am never going to fuck your mother again.

    DirectPlay is obviously going to spend equivalent CPU building the filter graph, whether its selecting PVP codecs or not.

    Seems that the ROI that MS gets is in the usual range for a large company. That would suggest that it _roughly costs that much_ to make the software they produce.

    That means that to make a similar open source product would obviously take a similar value (minus the ten percent odd profit) of time/value/effort/whatever investment.

    So yes. If Durkadurkastan gave up Windows and embraced FOSS, their expenditure on software would be reduced several percent! This may have a noticable effect on their economy, if we are really generous!

    Yeah considering I bought a XDA2 many years ago to take advantage of all the homebrew based on that (Win Mobile, .net compact). Only homebrew I run is my crappy timesheet program I wrote.

    Turns out I couldnt be fucked installing (cracked = free) commercial third party stuff with nice installers. Doubt it being OS is going to make my experience any different

    I'm still not understanding how "economically depressed areas" and "comprehensive office suite to replace the perfectly usable software included with their $12 Windows OEM license" are at all linked.

    I'm also not seeing the link between "school gives students assignment thats only readable on $$$ software" and "this is somehow Microsofts fault". Perhaps every company should virtually give away their software in case some school uses their format improperly?

    1) Microsoft brings out alternative payment system to get their office suite.
    2) ???
    3) Microsoft is repressing economically disadvantaged school children and is teh evils.
