  1. an option: configuration management on Ask Slashdot: Is There a Web Development Linux Distro? · · Score: 2

This isn't necessarily what you were asking for but I maintain a small group of configuration management modules that extend a base class just for this. This allows me to maintain a common configuration standard that I can push across a wide variety of hardware and software configurations. I can spin up an ArchLinux development instance in my VM stack and have it configured the same as production which makes things convenient, doubly so when I decide it's time to pick up a *BSD again or what have you.

Unfortunately, when the hardware was new I was not able to afford it. Currently I own an Indigo, Indigo2, and an O2. They are very capable and suprisingly rounded machines. I was concerned with SGIs direction during their stint of windows clusters but with the linux superclusters they've been working on lately and some of the rekindled movement with the workstations, I have been very hopeful of a bit of an SGI revival. Hopefully, they will be able to recover from this. If not, I know that many people will be greatful for the contributions they have made.

If they sent a bouquet of flowers ... and all, along with a simple request to have it taken down for the good of the upstart artist and other music patrons, I'm sure your take on it would be far different.

Of the population, how many who do not follow the speed limit or maintain "safe" breaking distances (which seem rather arbitrary) get into accidents? I don't think that automatically handing out tickets will necessarily make any of those people safe drivers, it will just generate more revenue for the state. With race tracks shutting down due to not wanting liability, it would seem the only feasible way for that to work would be state-run tracks. There people could legally race and perhaps even be taught how to deal with hazards like hydroplaning in rain and such.
