With the steady increase of surveillance technology it reminds me I must make an EMP device one day, you never know when you're going to need an EMP...
As a fan of all things Stargate I've been unsuccessful in tracking down any episodes of Infinity, where can I can get the entire series that was made? I know there's some promo DVD but I want the entire series.
Was the series so bad that nobody even bothered to tape it & dump it online?
But that's my point, doesn't matter how new the LCD screen is it still has a viewing angle, CRT can be seen from any angle and the brightness doesn't change like an LCD. The biggest annoyance I have with the brightness thing on large LCD screens is how the bottom is brighter than the top when all it's displaying is a single colour on screen.
Don't get me wrong, LCD screens are great in their place like the small one on my Archos AV500 but I'm not yet ready to 'upgrade' my two PC CRTs to LCD because I very much value the even brightness on the screen.
I will probably mourn the day I can't buy a new CRT monitor, say what you will about them being too big, bulky & energy ineffecient, they never go inverse when you look at them from an askew angle - that's the main reason I don't like LCD screens because you keep having to get your head in the right viewing zone to get a clear & proper picture.
If you want your PC to look like part of the furniture then you can take a leaf out of the books of those mini-itx modders, the most notable 'furniture' type ones are:
Am I missing something here? after clicking the pages a few times I couldn't see any adverts on any the pages at all, they all disappeared! this is without any adblocker type programs running.
The amount of content per page isn't that high but it has to be said I've seen much much worse when it comes to advert/content ratio.
With the inevitability of it having funding by advertising, there's a chance the search results will be more biased towards returning links to companies that pay more, yes I know Google work like this with their officially sanctioned adverts on the top & side of the search results but what's to stop companies editing the main results to bias towards them?
What if you can't do interviews, if you're someone who gets very nervous during any sort of interview and stumble your words and forget things, the chances of being labelled a fraudster rather than someone who's just nervous would rise. Not good.
Like another post about this situation, I used to think Britain was OK but the government are making us all bite pillows now in the name of "freedom".
"Umm, because now they can offer a much larger catalogue and you have even less excuse than ever for pirating something that you claim is rare / not available locally?"
But the biggest hurdle of any new video/audio storage format is getting access to the much larger catalogue, if a copyright/distribution holder of a particular piece of work that's out of print in every currently available format says "no" or it's held up in legal issues (like for example "The Keep" which I want on DVD instead of my original VHS & 4:3 satellite recording on DVDR) then that title will still hold it's rare status.
And if a company that has copyright/distribution rights on a large amount of well known titles says no then the new format's future will look slim.
The article says it would be up to the web sites to store backups of the images with relevant date/time/source IP data, but what if you host pictures on your own ADSL or whatever connection, would you still be liable to store copies with the relevant source information?
If you really want to reduce power consumption on the screen side of things, Emagin produce some 800x600 OLED 'LCD' glasses that power from the USB port, but the price is hefty as they recently tripled them from around $500 to around $1500 (though around $700 on eBay).
There's an article in a recent Electronics Weekly all about OLEDs and how they use about a quarter the power of an equivilant LCD screen mainly because there's no backlight.
Look what they did with Lost In Space, took a classic 60's tv show and turned it into a complete Hollywood schlockfest of a film. Here's hoping there's some people involved with the creative side of the film who are die-hard Trekkies to steer it in a good direction.
*feeling a little guilty he likes the LIS film and is actually quite looking forward to a new trek film*
I could've done with some smart surveillance cameras on my property last night, some fucker stole my two mountain bikes:(
But the joke's partly on them, one of them was waiting to be junked, brakes shot, chain twisted, chainrings bent, tyres bald, bottom bracket does a very loud SKREEEEEEEE sound when you try and pedal and it weighed half a ton. The other was from Halfords.
On the subject of paying for downloading tv episodes/movies, a couple of years ago I heard about this site called http://www.cinemanow.com/ because at one time you could pay to download the season 3 episodes of ReBoot (which the DVDs are now long out of print) but it would've cost $160 to download the 16 episodes at $10 each, and the quality is nowhere near that of the DVDs.
CinemaNow does have quite a bit of content to download, some of it free as it's subsidies by advertising just like normal tv, but most of the content is pretty obscure (read: too terrible for normal tv, but I spotted a few titles that MST3K had ripped into)
hack slash, who has all of ReBoot on pressed DVD (hence his nickname), but half of it is dubbed in Russian
I take it this is a bog standard installation procedure?

Will the remote only have one button?
If this is successful, could it lead to video games courses in universities? I'd love a diploma in Donkey Kong.

The Clock

Cigar Humidor
Gramophone

Telefunken
and for the geek, the Windows XP box (as in the cardboard box the OS comes in, but with a sly RedHat trick)
Whatver happens it'll be ok, they have a backup rover: MarsRover2.jpg

What about some 'proper' 3D animations that can be viewed with 3D LCD glasses? I'd love to see some 3D Mars flyovers with my 3D capable LCD glasses.
With all the stuff Google have gotten into, porn is probably the next logical venture, the service could be called Google Oogle.

Whatever happened to fractal compression of images?
This reminds me of the vending machine that Jamie of Mythbuster fame built for a 7-Up advertisment, http://www.m5industries.com/html/portfolio/7up.htm

Just in case, set phasers to suck.

After carrying one of those around all day with a shoulder strap you'd welcome a Vulcan nerve pinch to ease the pain.

But will she go down on you as much as previous incarnations?
