I used to watch Star Trek a lot... but Voyager just, well, sucked, and I haven't kept up with it. And now that I've seen Babylon 5 (thanks SciFi channel!), I don't know that I'll be able to go back to the "continuity? what's that?" of Star Trek.
Sure I'll give the series a chance though. You never know, they might be able to come up with something good.
One of the problems with Voyager is that they never knew where they were going. They start off with this setup of "we need to get home" or whatever, but there was no sense of progression, really. Ocasionally they'll pull off a super-jump ("we're now 4259.1453 light years closer!"), but then nothing ever comes of it. They still meet aliens that were around before, etc.
Well, I hope the new series turns out good, I'd like to watch a good, new, sci-fi series.
And, barring that, maybe Sci-fi will buy the rights to Crusade and bring that back into production.
At least you don't go to WPI - the net ports in the res halls there are keyed to NIC addresses (no joke!) and die if they ever receive connections from the wrong NIC. When they kill your port, you're SOL - you can only use your port!
One of the many reasons I'm living off campus next year.:)
* the Fedex ad with the chairs. The people shooting out the roof was great.
* both Snickers ads... the first one with the annoying car alarm going off and then the sofa falls on it.. and the second one with the little dolls people were stepping on. "Do you have one for 'your sister is hot?'" *SMASH*
* both Bud commercials... "what are you doing?" "what are YOU doing?" "drinking an import, watching the market close"..... but I liked the dog/alien one better. "what did you learn from Earth?" ".......WAZZUP!!!!!!" sure it's annoying, but it's funny.:)
* my favorite would have to be the 'running with the squirrels'. I don't even remember what the ad was for, but i thought it was a great commericial.
As for the halftime show... I will never be able to listen to "Walk This Way" again. And if I had a tiny bit of respect for Aerosmith before this, I don't now.
And as for the actual game... uh... whatever. I don't care much. I'm from Cleveland, I'm not allowed to like the Ravens, though.
half the money invested in the place could have paid for education programs out the ass...but gee, i am so glad that the NSA just basically threw it away.
Well damn, that's a great point. After all, the public school system is such a perfect example of efficiency! I think I'll write my congressmen (yes, they're all men) now, demanding that all money that's currently going towards national security be instead routed to the public schools so they can continue to be a shining example to all other countries about how school systems should be run. After all, who needs national security?
Certainly the idea of server-side characters is a good one. And I guess lasting half a year without any cheating incidents is pretty good, compared to most other online games.
But this really sucks. I know people who played solo Realm characters, despite the added lag (well, back when it came out anyway), just so they would not be accused of cheating if sometime they might want to play them multiplayer.
Obviously this needs to be addressed. How, though? Stronger encryption maybe?
On the other hand, how long have PC demos been available? Doom, I imagine.
Whatever. I've been downloading game demos since way before Doom. Doom may have been one of the first 'big' ones, but computer game demos have been availible as long as I can remember.
Well, I'm not 23, and I'm 6'4". So I guess I'm right out, even if I am under the weight limit.
Too bad.
Speaking of the ISS, if you want to know where it is, go here. That page shows the location of the ISS. If you go to JTrack3D, you can see the location of quite a few satellites, as well as the ISS and Mir.
I think Rob or someone should post the same article 10 times in one day, just to make the heads explode of all the people that complain about it every time. Then we wouldn't have to listen to them.
I think it'd be rather interesting to work for the CIA. Anyone have any information on what it's like? I've read through some of the stuff on their web site, but I'd kind of like to find out any information someone else has.
(how I miss Ohio's lever machines - filling in bubbles and having my ballot sucked into a machine (VA) pales besides flipping the little levers under the name of the candidate of your choice and pulling that big handle to register your vote (OH)- cha-ching!).
You must have lived somewhere nice. Here in the sticks in Ohio, we have to punch holes in sheets. I was rather disappointed about not being able to pull the levers.:)
One good game. The N64 has been riding the wave of GoldenEye and (now) Perfect Dark for a long time now. Without those two games (and of course Mario and Zelda), the N64 would be a paperweight.
Am I the only one who can't stand Goldeneye? Give me a mouse over those damn controllers any day for a FPS.:P
The only game I really play on [other peoples'] N64s is Super Smash Brothers. Damn that's a fun game with 4 people.:)
As an RPI student, if we make their heating bill expensive, then (assuming they live on campus) it'll be RPI who'll pay, and ultimately the students. So please vote responsibly, it's my money at stake...
And as a WPI student, I say screw RPI, let's crank the temperature up!:)
Nope, Klingons are correct. Remember Star Trek V? I do, despite my attempts to forget it. But anyway. At the beginning of ST5, the Klingon ship destroyed Pioneer 10, although they considered it 'space junk'.
But is our [by which I mean "the USA"] space program the only ones putting stuff up there? Shouldn't Russia be helping? Or the ESA? Or are the "16 partners" just building stuff and we send it up? Inquiring minds want to know.
I just signed up for internet banking with Sovereign......
Note to any script kiddies: Proving that you are 1337 by changing my PIN (I suppose you could steal my money, but there's really not a whole lot there) will result in being hunted down and thrown in jail like the table-scrap pilfering grab-asses you are (GRAB ASSES BAD!)
Er.
But seriously. I did just sign up for net banking w/ Sovereign. I wonder if they're going to mention anything about this to me.

does it have settings ranging from "stun" to "fry to a delicate brown"?
I read the article on the front page, and wondered how many posts it'd be before I saw "so long and thanks for all the fish." #2 is pretty good. :)
One of the many reasons I'm living off campus next year. :)
Oh, wow, floppy disks may become useful again!
Now, all we need is for AOL to switch back to sending out floppies instead of CDs, and we've got an infinite amount of usable storage again.
I knew that drawer full of floppies would come in handy eventually.

Oh well. I wonder if the monolith has a ratio of 1x4x9..

(Hm, maybe it was a Y2K+1 bug.)
Sorry for all the confusion and riots that are sure to result from me chosing a bad title for the article.
Other AlleyCat players? Wow! That rocks. I love the theme music.

Another cool site I thought might make a good quickie: clonejesus.com describes bringing about the second coming of Christ through cloning.

Looks a lot like "Information wants to be free" to me.. :)

I can't remember who said that, but I believe it was a Roman senator...

A dual Duron system would be nice... but why settle for calling it a "dual Duron"... when you could call it a "Duron Duron"?
