This is the key factor, I think. I love Minidisc players and I have a great one, but it's sitting unused behind my ipod. The interface software was just so crappy and so limiting that I needed to move on to something more usable.
If a screenshot is meant to show a specific window's layout or functionality, I want to see it with the rest of the application behind it. It's part of giving me a feel for how it works. I am not interested in seeing closeups of a specific part, but rather a full, high resolution screen shot of the desktop with whatever part of the application is being shown running in the foreground.
I, too, thought the Summer of Code was a great thing for Google to do. All the same, I'd like to see this money spent on larger causes and more needy people. Providing support for the Open Source movement is great, but helping large numbers of impoverished people live a better life seems more nobel.
I just don't think people will pay $400 for an ebook reader and then still have to pay the same amount per book. I'll pay $400 for an ebook reader when it includes all books to be read.
Fact is, one CAN buy music legit from an online store other than iTunes and put it right on an iPod. I just bought the new Autechre album from http://bleep.com/Bleep, which sells Warp Records artists' music with no DRM.
From their FAQ: We believe that most people like to be treated as customers and not potential criminals - DRM is easily circumvented and just puts obstacles in the way of enjoying music.
Not only is Rosen's "iPod-iTunes" argument misleading, it's factually incorrect.
"Hi, my name is Bambara. I'ma 36 year old Virgo and a former killer, who's hobbies include performing recreational autopsies, defecating, and drinking rum"
The only problem is that no one uses Yahoo to search. They must be checking their email or playing online games...

Are any other GAIM/Linux users getting a "Server does not use any supported authentication method" error?
My account settings are per google's GAIM section (including TLS if possible). Any suggestions?

I use the German-language Firefox from http://www.firebird-browser.de/. Am I included in this download count? What about other languages?
