Here is a page listing a few programs that can export Yahoo! mail and make it POP accessable or forward to another email address. I personally run the fetchyahoo script as a cron job to forward my Yahoo mail to GMail every so often.

    http://fetchyahoo.twizzler.org/

The biggest problem I see is not the one-time mail move, it's going through all of the websites that you've registered your Yahoo mail address with and transitioning it over, and it has been the main limiting factor in my dropping Y! for a while now.

I believe the main problem with the config files is that the documentation recommends a poor (IMO) config update utility, 'etc-update'. I use a different tool, 'dispatch-conf', which has a better merge mechanism and allows you to use RCS to backup previous versions of your config. This makes the update process much smoother and easily recoverable in case the config merge does break something.

The parent poster is not arguing that witches == communisim == terrorism == fictional, but I'm sure you already know that.

The fact is, throughout history society has found a particular attribute to label certain people with, be it fictional or not, and persecute them based upon that.

Perhaps a little bit of history is in order ...

    Salem Witch Trials

    McCarthyism

And BTW, despite the reality of the existance of "witches", do note that 19 real people were slain in Salem because they were accused of being witches. Those deaths are just as real as any other.

Could you not just wear a pair of headphones around your neck, as opposed to on your head, and just turn up the volume such that you could hear it? I figure the main reason that it's illegal is because you need to be able to hear the traffic around you to be safe on a bike. If the headphones were around your neck, you could still hear the music and also the surrounding environment.

About how much does one of those 135 amp-hour batteries cost?

  10. The term "MUDFlation" on MUDflation, Legal Action To Hinder MMO Trading? · · Score: 2, Informative

You know, I don't remember ever hearing the term 'MUDflation' being used as "inflation in a MUD environment", or for that matter having anything to do with the economics of a particular game.

I was always under the impression that "MUDflation" was the propensity for the items / players / mobs to get more powerful over time in order to keep people interested. "MUDflation" was the reason the level limit in EQ was raised from 50 to 60, and then to 65, and the weapons got significantly more powerful over time as well. Perhaps a side effect is a change in the economy, but the term doesn't describe that.

As far as basing any kind of real economy on a gaming economy, I think it is fundamentally flawed. After all, none of these systems are closed economies in the slightest, currency is simply created at a whim. Do you ever wonder where that orc pawn got his cash from?

Inevitibly the value of currency is going to go down the more is in circulation, whether it be legitimately or through dupes. I don't feel that this guy has a firm grasp on what's really going on, although the article suggests that he expects currency valuations to change.

I disagree, I think it is a good metric for measuring the popularity of a song, and finding which ones people would be most likely to buy. Sure, it won't tell you how many people will buy something, but it can tell you which songs / CDs will sell better relative to each other.

Your Ferrari anaolgy doesn't work out, because all CDs are priced very similarly. The idea is that all other things being equal, songs that are popular online will be popular in hard media.
