    Call me when there's an actual demonstrated problem. Maybe the new materials will act as an amplifier? The situation would be different from floorplan to floorplan and from one wifi antenna placement to the next. You can hem and haw all you want, but you don't know for sure until you field test.

    Fiber maybe? You would have the same physical eyesore problem, but the EM radiation would be non-existent. Is that even a real issue though? This would be cool for small scale applications though, or very large things like beaming power from a solar collector in a Lagrange point to the moon.

    But that brings an excellent point. Why the hell not? What prevents Google (or Virgin or McDonald's or any other multi-billion dollar entity) from doing so? I have firmly believed for some time now the answer to space exploration and presence will be had through commercial ventures. There is fuck-all ROI on the deal, but at least there could be infrastructure in place and even the possibility of tourism if manufacturing exists for one way trips back from Mars. Someone needs to step up and make the 25 to 50-year decision to put a Disneyland near Olympus Mons.
