ABS can actually increase stopping distance. ABS just prevents the brakes from locking up the wheels so you can still steer and dodge things. Without ABS you slam on the brakes, the wheels lock up, and you slide like you are on ice - no control at all. With ABS you slam on the brakes, the ABS system senses a wheel starting to lock up, and actually releases the brakes a bit to prevent it - so you still get control, but stopping distance may increase.

1lb is roughly equivalent to $200k in fuel cost over the life of the airplane (30 years, 4 flights a day), so it adds up. And I fully support them weighing passengers + bags, and let me check my bag for just the cost of the weight of the bag.

It is a continuous burn, no pistons or cylinders, and some of them are up to 60% efficient (compared to 35% for coal and 10% for your car). They can burn just about any fuel too. See ge-energy.com . Ordered a disk from them in 2005 as part of another promotion I think (one of those complete X deals). I never got the disk as it was improperly addressed, they dropped off my apartment number, so it was returned to sender, but I got a lovely $70 charge on my CC a month later. I called to complain and they offered to resend out the disk at first, but I finally got them to refund the charge. Ended up working out OK, but again, that was a few years ago.

I worked a Coop with an employer that did government work and every time I'd leave I would have any printed documents I had on me looked over to make sure I wasn't stealing any information, yet my 4gb flash drive in my pocket, that could have held thousands of times more data than the weight of paper I can carry, was never searched. Even if they saw the flash drive on my key chain I was never questioned.
And if the information in the video was so top secret it effected the security of the common person, why the hell was it sitting on top of a desk in an unlocked, empty room?
Real data theft comes from employees and flash drives if anything, not printed documents and strange visitors with long hair that are allowed to roam free in a company. These security policies and BS technology videos just make CEO's and cops wet their pants, they don't really help solve any crimes or prevent theft of data. They especially don't prevent theft of data that could harm the average citizen.
Basically yes, use it to play your cartoons or movies of choice, while checking your email. I'll stick to my mythbox personally though. Screen is too small to be useful without hooking it up to your TV, and if you are doing that its main advantage is size alone.
Surprisingly I actually like Office 2010 tech preview. I initially hated Office 2007, but after using them for some time it has grown on me. The ribbon isn't half bad once you get used to it. Making graphs in excel is definitely much nicer now.
I wish the world would switch to OO or other FOSS, but it won't. My company and my school both use MS Office, so thats what I use. Its a PIA to transfer documents back and forth, the formatting always gets screwed up, just not worth it.
If they are using a convicted felon to help setup an internal TV station I somehow doubt they have a backup of anything but the warden's porno collection.
