I'm going to use myspace as an example here of a site which does not support OpedID (last I checked), but this is applicable to many others:

I have a friend who has his blog on his myspace page, which I like to read; I would like to post comments, but I can't do that without a myspace account, but I really *don't* want to sign up for myspace just so I can post on his blog. My idea is, assuming myspace is not going to start supporting openID posting any time soon, what if there were a site/service which would sign up for a myspace account, and then I could use my openID to sign in there and post on my friend's blog through that services account. This same account would be "shared" by anyone who wants to post using their openID account instead of signing up for an account on myspace just to post a comment on a blog. The "proxy" comment would have to be posted by the service of course, with something indicating the openID of the poster.

I'm sure someone can think of a reason why this is a terrible idea and could never work, but it would sure be nice and maybe would encourage such sites to support openID postings directly.

I have several TypeMatrix keyboards (2020's) and they're great. There are just a few tweaks I would make which would bring them close to my "ideal" keyboard:

        1. I'd turn the left spacebar key into a shift button so I don't have to reach w/ my pinky for shift.

        2. I'd add two of those little eraser nub things next to each index finger - one which would control the mouse (as they normally do on the laptops on which I've seen them), and the other would operate the arrow keys.

        3. I would like a full sized one w/ its own number pad and page-up/page-down keys etc, so that I don't have to use the function key just to access those. After all, it's not like I'm using a laptop, I should be able to benefit from having a full size keyboard with all the keys.

        4. A programmer pad like my touchstream has would be a bonus.

I wish there were more keyboards out there w/ straight rows instead of the retarded keys offset so the hammer arms don't get stuck relic from the typwriter feature that most keyboards exhibit today.

If you have a useful idea, and you tell me about it (or even if I copy it without your permission), now we both have a useful idea.

Now, even considering economic value, sharing can still increase value. Say you have a skill no one else has and many people are willing to pay you use it on their behalf, the value to them (which dictates how much they will be willing to pay) will have some upper bound. Now if you teach me the skill, as long as we still are both unable to fulfill the demand, the value has just been doubled. It only becomes devalued (in the economic sense) once it's widespread enough that people can go somewhere else if they don't like your price.

More than once in the last two years I've been picked out for "special screening". I used to fly quite a bit as a non-rev passenger (my uncle worked for one of the airlines, so he'd give us guest passes, which are basically very cheap standby fares) and when you fly on one of those you get SSSS (super special security screening?) on your boarding pass every time.

I was quite amused one time when flying with 3 other people all on guest passes, and we all went through security at once. The TSA people were surprised to get 4 "random" screens in a row :p. Uh, it's not really random guys. I take it as an indication that the security screenings are pretty ineffective that being a non-rev passenger puts you on that list. I mean, really, when you're hardly paying anything for the flight, you're much less likely to be pissed off by a bit of extra screening, so they can keep up appearances of doing "random screening" without extra inconvenience to as many revenue generating passengers. Either that or they've got some reason to believe that airline employees and their friends and families are more keen to blow up some airplanes than everyone else.
