Yeah, that's the last thing the console market needs, another multi-platinum, critically acclaimed game.
And don't forget to mention something about dedicated servers in your next post, you forgot this time.
Agreed. The 100$ price cut just becomes a publicity stunt aimed at hyping the press in advance of E3. Combined with Microsoft's admission of the defects in the 360, the PS3 price cut had many people thinking that momentum had shifted. Now I personally see Sony as desperate. Even stranger is that the European market was told they would not get a 100$ price cut, but that they would get an announced bundle of a 60gb system, 2 controllers and 2 games for the standard same price. This seems like the way the North American model should have been handled.
The PS3 is selling at a rate that is right between the first Playstation and PS2..
That would be fine and dandy, if the market was a static, fixed, number of customers. 82,000 units in a month in todays market stinks. I agree with you that the PS3 is a marvelous piece of technology. The games look beautiful, and a few of them are probably pretty fun. It may even catch on and get back into competitiveness, but in my opinion, based on the NPD numbers and daily press stories, I wouldn't bet on it.
All the games people are going out to buy for the PS2 will run on their PS3s, all the franchises they are buying at a faster rate than the 360 are getting next gen sequels on the PS3. Developers who seven to eight years ago started working on PS2 engines are still being able to leverage that technology they created years ago in the giant and still expanding PS2 market.
Which means they (consumers and developers) will not be spending their money on PS3 related products. Just by looking at the wii versus gamecube, you can see an advantage in not having two product lines in the same market. The Wii is near enough in price to the Gamecube, that it is easy to justify shelling out the extra $150 or so to get the wii. Developers, who shunned the wii for the most part, now see the success of the Wii (in large part due to pricing and timing) and are scrambling to divert money to wii related projects. Unless you expect the ps2 to be there in another 7 years, and the NPD numbers show the PS2 under 200,000 for the first time since initial launch, you have to get the consumers and developers on the newer technology.
I know I'm feeding a troll, but I'm bored, so here you go.
If by your logic, sales equals how the "gaming world" feels about the Xbox 360, what does this say about the PS3? Can you give less than a shit about something? In the last available figures (May 07), NPD has Xbox outselling PS3 by 2 to 1; the Wii outsells it by 4 to 1. This is NPD by the way; A non-biased, market research group.
"Well, it isn't difficult to sell an old useless console with profit, because that's what the wii is, old technology, the control is not even that great or special, for god sake, you can't even play a dvd on the bugger even though it has a dvdplayer inside..."
It's the same reason a Honda Accord outsells a Porsche 911. It's good, proven technology, that, while not the most powerful or cutting edge, fits the budget of the largest segment of the car buying populace. The PS3 is awesome technology, I think very few people will argue that point. The Wii is using older technologies in new ways, and it's got alot of people intrigued. And as far as a DVD goes, it will more than likely be added in a future software update, and who doesn't have 2 or 3 different ways to play a DVD.
You have to remember that what HP is to other games, Morale is to LOTRO. You aren't killed, you are defeated and retreat. While wounds and poison can do Morale damage, so can fear effects.
So a bard playing a haunting tune may break an enemy's moral is feasible.
"Some have blamed Clovis and closely related groups in the Americas, and refer to these extinctions as the result of a Clovis 'blitzkrieg.'"
I recall reading/hearing something about a similar "blitzkrieg" by the First human inhabitants of Australia. And more recently, the decimation of the Moa and other flightless birds in New Zealand. Point being, I think we underestimate the power even primitive humans had to drastically change their environments, especially ones they aren't native to.
But I must say, an exploding comet sounds really cool.
There is Monkey Fencing in Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz, and although I agree that fencing could be fun on the wii, it wasn't in this case. They basically did it like it is done in Sid Meier's Pirates; an elaborate game of rock scissors paper.
Gamecube lacked 3rd party support because of low hardware sales. Developers wouldn't spend time creating a new game, or porting an old game, to a console that didn't have enough units out there go guarantee them a profit.
Wii is outselling 360 and PS3. Developers have a monetary incentive to make games for the Wii. Graphics quality is irrelevant, or at least less important to an installed base that isn't that worried about stellar HD quality graphics. In a few months time you'll see original Wii games from 3rd party developers who jumped on the bandwagon after Wii's success this Christmas season

You're right of course, I just pit Sony and Microsoft against each other because that's what this particular AC is thinking about.
Point taken. I think the PS2 outselling the PS3 is still the greatest evidence that Sony priced themselves out of competition.
Ok Gamasutra reporting the NPD numbers for May
May's NPD tally comes to 338,000 Wii, 155,000 Xbox, and 82,000 PS3.

And yet it still outsells its market competitor
The question is, will Nimoy be voicing new technology advances?

Plus they've got all those nifty tricks like Riddle. And they can start Fellowship skills And they dual wield man...why don't i play a burglar?

It's not just you. I think they just haven't started the actual countdown yet.
