Actually, launching anything into the sun is extremely difficult. It takes speeds of at least 65K mph to counteract Earth's orbit in order to hit the sun and not just end up in an elliptical orbit. It's easier to send something outside of the solar system at just 25K mph.
Subscribers know it's doomed, but who cares? I'm saving dozens of dollars a month and so I'll take advantage of it while I can.
The important thing is MoviePass has proved to other companies that the subscription model is promising. You already do it with TV, music, streaming movies, etc. Now AMC has announced a subscription program for $20/month you get 3 movies a week. That's a great deal. As soon as MoviePass goes belly-up, I'll move over to AMC's plan.
Do I think that some borderline films could benefit from a "kids" edit? Sure. Do I think it should happen without the input of the originators of a work? No.

To compare it to art, VidAngel customers are simply choosing to view one part of the "museum" and avoid another part. Nobody should be forced to walk the entire Louvre if they don't want to. Or, you don't have to walk a full 360' around the Statue of David - nothing is wrong with just looking at the front, or the back, or whatever part you are interested in.
I don't understand. If I create a backup of my DVD and watch it using my Kodi box, how does someone inject malicious code into the subtitles? Oh, you mean this only happens when I acquire questionably legal content from an unknown source? Nevermind then.

They gain popularity through Google, and now they want to sue Google? And it's obviously not Google's fault, so they look stupid. Also makes them look like they are out just for the money. Really? Have you guys even used Windows 8? It's virtually exactly the same as Windows 7. Even the hated "start screen/new UI/Metro" performancs exactly the same as the Win 8 start menu for the majority of people that use it

A flat tax will NEVER happen. Sure it's a good idea, but what politician is willing to do this? Because if they did, millions of jobs would be lost instantly. The entire tax industry (H&R block, KPMG, Deloitte & Touche, etc) gone. No politician wants to be the one that voted for a 10% jump in unemployment, even if it would be the best in the long term.
sure, XboxLive, with a $50/year fee.... You can't even watch Netflix on the Xbox with a paid Netflix subscription without XBox Live. As for the cheap/free game selection, I haven't looked in a while, but wasn't very good. I was under the impression that the dev fees for XBox were to high for most of the small game devs.
I think the idea of "cheap console games", if it exists, will happen with this console. We can get $0-$10 games on our smartphones and tablets, but those are almost always 1-player games on a tiny screen. If this offers a cheap marketplace for console-style games, I think it's great.

Like any small business, potential savings in the future don't always translate to extra income now. New systems are expensive and often included monthly fees from the software providers. In addition, if their analog, handwritten system has been working for decades, there's not a lot of incentive to switch.
