It seems to me there's something silly about the requirement of a physical connection to the ground. No one would argue that Luke Skywalker's land speeder wasn't a 'land based' vehicle -- and yet (if it existed) it would not qualify for the land-speed record by the rules currently set forth.

Today's hovercraft are not "airships" per se. I would argue that an 'association' to the ground, and a strict limitation in terms of altitude still qualifies as ground based.

Yes, that is amazing. But what's *more* amazing is that the companies who invest all that time and money also invest so heavily in PUBLICIZING their DRM awesomeness. Such publicity is not only a massive invitation and challenge to the hacker community -- but it elevates the status of the hacker who ultimately cracks the code. All that time and money not only bites the publisher in the rear end, but ultimately becomes a massive publicity campaign for the very enemy the publisher hoped to foil.

What's worse, is that you get none of the precautionary questions/warnings regarding side effects, possible allergies to antibiotics, instructions to take the whole package, etc.

*This* is where the problem lies. My experience with US and European antibiotics prescriptions has been that there actually is a decent amount of responsibility on the part of prescribers. In other places however, antibiotics are uncontrolled, very cheap, and very very easy to get.

Disclaimer, this is in no way a flame -- I am an Apple user.

But like most Apple products (particularly 1st gen Apple products), it will likely sacrifice usability for minimalism and geometric symmetry.

Like the "borderless keyboard", the "hockeypuck mouse" of the iMac (who can forget that disaster), the semi-usable onscreen keyboard of the iPhone, and the single button "cyclops" mouse ("We will not under any circumstances admit that Microsoft's wheel-mouse actually rocks") ...Apple will no conveniently dismiss the necessity of ergonomics, and the asymmetry of the human hand in favor of visual simplicity.

It's my one beef with Apple (and I say this about their HARDWARE design specifically) -- They're so far off in the land of contoured plastic minimalism that they've forgotten about the spectacularly weird shapes that humans come in.

I hope I'm wrong about the tablet -- but I'm betting a slightly uglier, less minimalistic version would work better ergonomically for most people...

Of course -- "most" people buy the iPhone because its sexy, not because it's usable... so what do I know...

Christians, please be aware that the intergalactic god, Zul-9 is the "one and only God". The alien crusaders are coming to spread the Word of the Great God Zul-9, and they want your churches, cathedrals and your women.

And if you silly Christians want "proof" that Zul-9 is the only God, then you can read it for yourself in the Biblio Galactica -- where it's written in clear, concise Zorgox "There is no God but Zul-9. All other gods are His sexual playthings -- until he eats them like crumpets with his afternoon tea."

Any evidence that the Cathoilc church attempts to put forward in an effort to discredit Zul-9 are words of the Devil (The evil "Byxaplaximax") and are but mere examples of obfuscation used by the Forces of Evil to cloud the One True Word of Zul-9. (It is common knowledge that the entire Bible was penned by an incredibly drunk Byxaplaximax in a weak effort to stifle Zul-9.)

To any Catholics who suddenly believe that their god may have created life elsewhere in the Universe, Zul-9 has proclaimed the following words: "Jesus H. Christ, stop trying to change up your stodgy little screed to encompass new scientific data which clearly disproves your stodgy little screed. There is no god but me, and you should know that because I've already buggered and devoured your god and he needed salt." (From the Book of the Book of St. Pogax-7).

And if there are any Catholics who cling to their religion in spite of the overwhelming evidence that they are uneducated monkeys, Zul-9 would like to remind these unbelievers that they have to "have faith".
