There's other alternatives to going out of business. But even if if that's the only outcome, there's better ways to deal with the problem than starting a trade war over it. Trade wars have never had positive outcomes for average Joes (aka me). Trade wars benefit a few people with lots of money and political position. This might be a better link...see the section Consequences of the Smoot-Hawley Tariff

It might keep some producers in business for a while. But it will ultimately destroy US based business in this field. There is timeless and countless example of how protectionist trade policy does nothing more than hurt the ones its intended to help. Some protectionist policies have been utterly disastrous . The worst part is the CEOs and investors will hurt the least. The workers, the 9-5 employee, when they lose their job, they will suffer the most.

I read a few articles during and after the mayhem in London the police where having trouble coordinating their efforts because the rioters were using social media to communicate their plans. If I remember correctly, someone in British government structure has proposed a law to allow them to shut down social media sites in "emergencies". So I would assume the FBI motivation is more on these lines as the likelihood of social media sites can get legally shutdown. (btw I am in no way advocating shutting down social media or validating gov attempts to monitor it--just offering my thought as to motivations behind the FBI project)

Actually it's a problem of the people. Most people are content with the two party system. They may complain about it, but they will still vote for one of the two. It's a real shame.

Very true. They just show up and vote to say they did their duty. I'm sure many just vote along party lines because that's what they've always done/mom/dad/bro/sis/bf/gf/spouse/someone/its cool to/etc

  13. Two party system is failing us on Ask Slashdot: Which Candidates For Geek Issues? · · Score: 4, Insightful

I'm beginning to believe this "2 party system" is the problem. It seems like the R's and D's just recycle the same ole, same ole; as some other comments have stated. Independents and other parties have little hope, and very rare success, of seeing candidates in Congress. I can't even imagine its even possible that we will ever see the white house held by a party other than R's and D's. Part of it the problem, maybe all of it, is $ from corporate and union donors. There is just too much $ handed over via campaign contributions to too few candidates.

Iraq and Iran are nothing more than proxy wars between the two. Somalia and Mogadishu will probably be next. Latin America could be battle grounds for it too.

For example, in the latest update, my camera settings are lost after each time I reboot the phone. The latest voice mail update now pushes deleted voice mails to a trash bin which I have to manually purge.
