I had a similar experience. After years of loud concerts and loud music i started to notice those ocassional drops in hearing and tinnitus (permanent ringing in the ears). But a couple of times the loss of hearing was so noticeable and lasted for so long (days) that i though i'd lost my hearing for good and was quite depressed since i'm a musician and i'm definitely not Beethoven! My hearing eventually went back to normal but i stopped going to concerts, i no longer turn on the radio on my car, and i barely listen to music anymore, among other things.
About eight years ago i used to have my main computer just laying on the floor with the components on a piece of cardboard. I'd had enough with the fan noise and i just took the fans off and dispensed with the case to keep it from overheating. It worked for years without failing me. I don't have to do that anymore because now we have subnotebooks with no moving parts.
When i've voted i've seen lots of candidates; i've never voted Republican and i vote Democrat only when there is no other choice. Of course you only see two parties on the television but you have to do your research. I mean, Nader is running again. . . And Cynthia McKinney. . . Why don't you vote for any of them? They won't get elected?
Money is not all there is in life. If i choose to not do business in China because i would have to support an oppressive government does not make me a fucking idiot. Let the evil ones do evil.
For all the years that i've been using Linux i have _never_ installed an antivirus. I can play any type of media i want without problems, openoffice has all i need to create/edit my documents, it has specialized software that i need such as LilyPond. . . All this for free. I just don't know what you are talking about.
I have some tunes in my head that i have no idea what their titles are or who plays them. There is one that i've been "listening" to in mind mind since i was a kid and it would be nice if one of these computers could find it for me. But, imagine the size of the database!
I don't know anything about the LHC but i'd like to comment on Slashdot's newly redesigned system. It's made the screen of my computer appear much larger than it was before. And it seems to be affecting everything in my room too. Fix this, please!

I think this is why in other countries you have publicly funded elections and laws that control how the media handles the elections.

Well, thus is the problem.

Check out the response of a couple of Democrats when i started this thread.

He! . .
Later on the scientists realized that the "weird spiciness" was due to the fact that they were trying to make beer out of a weevil's dung.
GP meant the 1790's. Kids nowadays.
Yes, it's true. That's why when you go to college to study music you study Bach and Mozart and not Devo or Flock Of Seagulls.

And i can't even play the thing (GNU site). If i try to download it it loads the video as a page(!).
I loved him in Blackadder. Simply brilliant.
If urinals, piss, and elephant shit can be art, then, why not a video game?
Previous to the 20th century defining art was easy. Nowdays, not so much.
